Ok so some good news ... and some bad.

which first? ok BAD first:

I'm sorry Bry, the spit-back proof will take a while due to limited equipment and not to mention other ongoing orders. The setup for machining the drip tip will get in the way and in this business; additional setup time = additional machine time = higher cost. I promise you though that I'm constantly searching and dealing with machine shops. I always have you guys' wishes in mind. :D

for some GOOD NEWS:

It doesn't require additional setup and machine time for a COPPER SLEEVE!!! So we'll have SS, Brass, and Copper! .. Possibly a sand-blasted version also!

For those who don't know the difference, Copper is much softer - more malleable than Brass ( due to the mix of zinc and copper in brass )
During my early naval career, I was tasked with polishing brass and copper in the ship. In my experience, Brass takes on a golden finish when polished and Copper takes on a rose gold finish which is noticeably darker than brass.

OUTSTANDING!

I do like the look of brass on my Dibi along with the matching brass/santos drip tips. And I have 1½ cans of Nevr-Dull, the Magic Wadding Polish we used to polish the brightwork in my early days in the Navy.

Mind you, I have no taste; but I really like the look of the larger, cylindrical atties on the OliveRdibi. Especially the ones with nice square shoulders.

Yes and the radius of that atty is a perfect match for the radius of the mod. It's almost like they were designed for each other. It's about 1mm offset from the atty to the edge of the richlite on the front.

So I got the ribbon wire for MM and R41 today.

Making a proper MM was quite the problem for me at first. I think i finally have one, but it isn't as stiff as I'm used to even after the reverse twist.

I found the R41 was very easy to work with. I tension wrapped it with a pin vise and did torch it based on previous advice. (Only once). Looking forward to trying without the pre torch. I hated doing that with tensioned contact coils.

Hopefully the mm because less of a pita or vapes that exceptionally in my bottom feeder.

IMHO the MM becomes mindlessly easy to make after a couple times around. Gotta keep that MM wikicoil good and wet tho.

My problem is my drill can't clasp such a thin wire very well, and when I fold the eve over a few times to make it thicker it works. But I inevitably snap the wire or it breaks in my drill or my clamp.

I'm waiting to load it in my recently purchased rm4 run in single coil mode.

I had to watch riptrippers video since I was having trouble with mr. Mundy's in making sure I did it right.

most drill chucks aren't going to hold that wire securely by itself, just stick a cut off screw or bolt or stub of a bit in the chuck and clamp it along side of it. I usually use a short piece of plastic rod, more like a plastic pin but I'm sure you could find something to work for you.

I usually clamp it between two of the 3 jaws in my drill (not in the center, just off center). I also find that starting with the single strands at about 18" MAX is more forgiving. Anymore, I do about 24" pieces. If it breaks on me, I just rechuck the longer fragment, finish it up, and then cut the other two to that shorter length. It is difficult at first. But once you get it down, it's pretty quick and easy.

I used one of these Mini Drill Chuck 1/4" Hex Shank for Micro Drill Bits.

First time I tried it, I somehow misunderstood Mundy's instructions. (I don't think he'd made the video yet). Anyway, I spent about four hours trying to do the initial twist on dual strands. I just about blew a nut across the room. Once Mundy set me straight, and I tried twisting a single strand . . . . . . duh . .. . . not so tough. (doable anyway)

yeah one drill I have is tight enough to grab the wire between 2 of the jaws, others don't hold it well enough but I just got used to using the plastic pin each time no matter which drill I grab :)

that is a great idea.

I would try it too, except . . .. . . . all my drills are tight enough. :)

Yeah, i did a single strand. Darn thing kept snapping though.

Very doable, just more wasted wire than I'm used to.

Anyway, off to bed. Work followed by a weekend bachelor party. Need to figure out which devices to take with me. Probably mvp and vv + the virus and something else.

My Reos will have to hang back I think.

Best part, I'll be able to pick up some New Glarus beers to bring home. It's a Wisconsin only company that won't sell out of state. Even down to me in Illinois. Can't wait! (Yes, a bachelor party to Wisconsin... cabin by a lake).
