penelope v2 plastic nut is ready and I will send it to vasilis in 3 days pin

Ithaka's plastic nut doesnt fit on penelope v2:)
Hey guys, does anyone know what size silica wick came with the Penelope v2? Also I managed to burn the Penelope V2 Plastic Nut Under Ceramic Housing - will need to buy another but Guru is out, they have a plastic nut for the Ithaka will that work in a Penelope V2?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I have my Penny V2 a couple of days now and man... what a beautifully designed and build device!
It's my first GG device!

I do have some starting issues with it so I'm probably doing something wrong. It works but the vapor production and taste is weak. I've rebuild it a few times with 1.5 and 1.8 Ohm coils. I tried it on a mech straight off the battery and on my VV/VW Semovar ranging between 9 and 13 Watts with (too) little difference. I've also tried the juice- and air-control in various positions but this doesn't really improve things either.
I'm puzzled...

Strange thing is, I'm not getting any dry hits or a burned taste. Just weak vapor and taste. I need to 'get it going' with 2 or 3 long drags and then it improves somewhat. But not enough I think/hope...

The only thing I can think of is the diameter of the silica. I only have 3.5mm silica at this moment (other sizes are on their way) but it seems to fit fine. It slots neatly in the grooves of the rebuildable part and ceramic but... could this be the reason?

What is the advised or best diameter of the silica in the Penny?

Thanks for any help!

Congratulations for your first GG item Fog :)

3,5mm wick is too fat for Penelope. Please use 2 -2,5mm silica and thats it. If you want to double it where wire sits then do it and check the results.

Thank you Imeo!

I've rebuild it with 2mm wick, doubled on top. Ha! That makes a lot of difference. Much better vapor production and taste. But... I have to turn the liquid control almost fully open. When I take two successive longer draws the second one gets a dry-ish 'silica taste'. When I leave it for a 10-15 secs while the first draw is excellent again and the second gets dryer again. It feels like the wicking can't keep up.

I use 1.5 Ohm ready wire, 2mm silica double on top, the wicks cut at the o-ring. Liquid control 2/3 turns from fully open. The liquid is El Kamino from GLV, not too thick. The Penny sits on a Nemesis mech straight from the battery (sorry I haven't been able to get my hands on a JustGG yet..). :)

Can you post some pics of your setup and how the wicks are in the channels?

I will when I take it apart again aalwani. Tnx for responding.

That said I'm pretty sure there are ok. There is not that much to it besides running the wicks straight down, tucked neatly in the channels but not tight or anything. Now that I've set the liquid control almost fully open (about 2-3 turns down from fully open) it seems to wick ok.
I'm not impressed by the taste yet so I've got a bit of learning curve and tweaking left to go I think. :)

To me it sounds like you would be having more of an issue with flooding and not a bad seal. If the atty floods then the juice can go down the center post to the positive pin on your atty. From there i don't know how it would get onto your battery, depends on your mod. Also the v2 is new and i don't see anyone having an issue with a bad o-ring this early.
Solved.
It was a simple matter of the centre post and centre nut becoming loose.
Don't know how I didn't notice it on the previous recoil - but at least I did on the latest one.
Must've not tightened them up properly after giving the whole set-up a good clean out recently...
Nipped them up nice and tight, all should be well again - :2cool:

then try 2mm wick and dont double it on wire. Then use 2,5mm wick and dont double it on the wire.

There is no way to not find exactly what you like fog :)

Thank you Imeo. I will and report back. I'm looking for 2.5mm wick here in NL.

Oh and I have no doubt at all that I get the Penny exactly how I want it. You and this forum are a great help to shorten the learning curve! :)

I've made a lot of progress with my Penny the last few days.

The 2mm wick without double on top didn't work well with two liquids I tried. That was dry hits galore. Now I've set it up with 2mm wick with 2mm double on top and this works really, really well so far. I have the 3rd liquid in it now and it has been spot on.

So far, the Penny doesn't seem to be a high power device. I bought it specifically to use on the little Nemi 14500 mod to create a slim & light high quality PV so high power isn't on the menu anyhow in this config.

But out of curiosity I've put the Penny on some Kicked mechs and a VV/VW device. In my current setup it seems that about 10 Watts is what it can handle. Above 10 Watts the wicking becomes the limiting factor. I'm sure it can handle more with a different setup but this is where I am now. Not that it's of any value to me 'cos I'm not a low Ohms / high power vapor anyhow...

I can only say that the Penny V2 is rapidly climbing up as one of my favorite atty's. I love it!!
