I just need to vent about this:

I absolutely find it rude and asinine when people say, "Why don't you just quit all the nicotine? I quilt cold turkey 4 score and 7 years ago. Just walked away, yada yada yada!"

I try to tell them that everyone is different. Some people have more addictive personalities. Some people are more high-strung and stressed (me). I just think it's so so rude. Why can't they just be supportive of the fact that I'm not inhaling carcinogens, that I'm not filling my lungs with tar, that I made a very positive and hard change in my life, and just be happy for that? Why do people have to be so da*n self-important. Anything to make you feel worse, so they can feel better about themselves, right? I know I should just ignore the ignorants, but I just needed to get it out. Thanks for listening, lol. Anyone else deal with jerks like this?

I love nicotine as much as I love caffeine and I'm never quitting either. I love the stimulants, I used to love ....... but that has passed. Anyway at least the people around me are supportive if they aren't screw em you don't need them. Except for family I guess you just got to put up with them.

I got that for a while from my husband (who quit the same time I did, only he used Njoys to essentially go cold turkey).

I finally looked at him and said "Well, I've already cut my nicotine by 60% in less than 2 months. I plan on trying for 0, but since nicotine is shown to improve memory, concentration, and athletic performance, I will ramp it back up if 0 nic impacts my work or my skating."

He didn't have a response to that :)

I'm over explaining things to people like that. I just say that's great for you & this is awesome for me! I still get the question of when I'm gonna stop vaping...probably never! As a woman I got tired of people telling me 'you're so pretty, you really shouldn't smoke' now it's the same thing all over again. Did anybody ask for their opinion? I think not...keep it moving :vapor:

sorry guess I vented a lil too lol

When someone hits me with that line that they quit cold turkey (and are acting like an ......). I just give them a "Good for you, congrats." Then walk away. Not worth the time, or effort because they will never understand. Most of the time I get "Oh so-and-so is trying to quit will this help?". Which at that time I am happy to explain vaping.

I get that all the time. The worst is getting it form my family.

Sorry, not having support from the people closest to you is the hardest. Luckily, my family has been pretty supportive. And most people in general have for that matter. When I told this 80-something year old guy I hadn't had a cigarette for five days, he smiled so big and said, "Good, we'd like to keep ya around for a while!" That felt so nice. I could see he was genuinely happy for me. When I first started switching my boss always said it didn't really count. That ...... me off. But now that he's learned more about them, he's realized that it's a very positive change for me and has been a lot more supportive.

Well put. I've already talked to so many people that were curious and wanted to learn about them from me for someone they know. Or for themselves. Love the quote, it's actually my fb cover photo right now, lol. Frank Zappa :)

And yes, I have. If they're being nice about their accomplishment, I'll congratulate them. If not, I use foul language. lol
I have a theory on the people who quit four score and seven years ago too. maybe valid, maybe not but I think that back then there weren't so many nasty chemicals in cigarettes as there are now so it may have been a bit easier to quit. I dunno.

Just remember everybody has skeletons in their closet. They prob. just jelly they didn't have vaping devices when they quit

You've got that right.
I just chalk it up to that fact that Humankind is a wholly dysfunctional, power - tripping species.
Not to mention many of these people who concern themselves with the business of others have more than enough business of their own that they should attend to.
I make it real plain to people that I don't have to justify myself regarding vaping and they can like it or not.
They don't feed me, clothe me or give me a place to stay; and if they think quitting all bad habits is an antidote to Death, they have a big surprise coming down the road, lol

For the same reason a lot of people think if they drive a compact car, you should drive a compact car - they think the way they live is the way everybody should live also. If they have a dog, they don't think you should have a cat and vice versa. They drive me nuts also.
