My boss would give me a hard time about smoking so I quit and started vaping. Same results, rants about it being unhealthy, even though he drinks a 12 pk. Of beer every night.

Yes..what you just said reminded me of a woman many moons ago who razzed me about smoking only for me to notice when she opened her mouth she had a mouthful of rotten teeth from all of the candy she was eating

For the same reason a lot of people think if they drive a compact car, you should drive a compact car - they think the way they live is the way everybody should live also. If they have a dog, they don't think you should have a cat and vice versa. They drive me nuts also.

I think you should have a dog and a cat...like I do !
And I think you should vape too. :p

oh wow, i'm high strung too. (bet nobody guessed that). some people will always try to feel superior to you because you do something they don't approve of or are jealous they can't do. i think it's just the way they are. if someone proudly tells me they quit smoking and didn't need any other pacifiers, i just say "good for you!" out loud, then say "butthole" under my breath. :p

Love going to my local bar esp. Winter time. The smokers walk past me shooting pool to go outside to the deck to smoke, i'z giggles

I know, my hubby and I went to a bar a couple of weeks ago and all night, "Do you wanna go with me outside to smoke." Every time, "No thanks, I'd like to stay warm, lol."

Some people just enjoy dipping into other peoples business .. and the smokers that quit completely like to feel somehow superior .. in fact, I sometimes think the ex-smokers are worse than those that never smoked at all ..

yeah, nothing quite as sanctimonious as an ex-smoker or ex-drinker. :glare:

There has only been 3 people in the world whose opinion I value on any subject. 2 of them have since passed. I only listen to advice (don't always take it, but I listen) from these 3. These 3 people were my mom & dad. The third is my wife. I tell people if they want me to do what I don't want to, convince my wife. That's the only chance you got to get me to do it. That chance is slim, but directly with me it's none.

I tend to just say "good for you, going cold turkey! Well, I gotta go, have a nice day."

Why can't they just be supportive of the fact that I'm not inhaling carcinogens, that I'm not filling my lungs with tar, that I made a very positive and hard change in my life, and just be happy for that?
The answer is simple, but perhaps not what you might expect.

The first part of the answer is that people don't understand that nicotine is no worse than caffeine.

--They think it is a poison
--They think it is a pesticide
--They think it is more addictive than ......

All of the above are a nothing more than fallacious arguments, but everyone out there buys into it.
In fact, a lot of vapers even buy into it, but it's all propaganda.

As far as nicotine being a poison, everything is a poison, depending on the dose.
Drink too much water and you'll die.

As far as nicotine being a pesticide, so what?
Salt kills snails, but we don't call it a pesticide because it makes no sense.

And the more addictive than ...... thing is just a bunch of malarkey.

The second part of the answer is that they have been brainwashed for decades.
Just go to any hardcore quit-smoking forum to find out how effective this brainwashing has been.

The sad part is that this brainwashing is still taking-place, and shows no signs of stopping.
It is up to us to get the truth out there, because until we do, all of these whack-jobs will keep on looking down on us.

That's why I always say, too much of anything is bad.

There are really people who thinks and wants to feel superior from others. If I encounter people like that who tries to be an @$$ about it, I just rub it off. Why would I start an argument with a broken parachute? I would just be no better or worse than that person.

The worst I get is from other smokers at work who just don't want to bother learning how to operate e-cigs. The ones in question bought gas station Blu disposables, which are fine and dandy, but it never went further than that.

Now that I've got an actual mod and have been off cigs for a few weeks, they just look at me and say "You're still smoking, you didn't quit, you're still getting nicotine." As if the nicotine patch, prescription, and nicotine gum people are A-ok and are to be considered 'quit.' Jealous. I just quietly sit at my desk vaping while they go stand in the snow. Then have to wait a few long, agonizing hours until they can go out again.

Someone smarter than me once said "The best revenge is living well."
