For all of y'all that are getting sooooo tired of winter.......Spring is right around the corner. I picked my first Daffodil today. It is usually mid-February before I see the first one so this one was a surprise. I am seeing lots of buds out there already.

Yep, I keep looking to see if any new information on the Deeming has come out.
I guess so far for now, nothing new, that may be a good thing.
Saw your post earlier and was going to ask which was going to last longer; the clowns in Oregon or the FDA dog & pony show.

Oregon geniuses lost and one, so far, needlessly lost his life for nothing other than his greedy delusions. Thousands, millions may lose their lives because of the deeming. This whole movement, media orchestrated campaign, against people trying to quit smoking is contrived BS by the money-hungry. Use a patch to quit smoking, penalized via heath insurance. Smoke, fired. Snus? You are a dirt bag. vape? Antifreeze. The list goes on. I really hope if the deeming goes through as the FDA hopes, the backlash will be heard louder than what happened on the remote, vital, Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

"Some side effects were more common with varenicline, with about 29 percent of people on the drug reporting nausea, 23 percent reporting vivid dreams and 22 percent reporting insomnia. The drug label carries warnings of serious psychiatric side effects and suicidal thoughts; people with a history of psychosis, serious depression or suicide attempts were excluded from the study."

Yeah, wouldn't do to have more suicides from it on the record....

Well, it's probably only about 5% of the people, so really, it's hardly worth mentioning.
After all, the other side effects are far more common.

But you left out this part:

One shortcoming of the study is that more than half of the patients in each treatment group stopped therapy before the 12-week regimen was completed, the authors note.

It’s also possible that the intense counseling participants received and their less than a pack-a-day smoking habits made it harder to uncover differences between the treatments that might be seen without counseling or with heavier smokers, Dr. Neal Benowitz, a nicotine addiction researcher at the University of California San Francisco, said by email.
Shudder to think what "intense counseling from them must have been like.

I'd also like to see what a vaping comparison would have been like, from people that really wanted to quit vs. people getting a buck to participate.

Ran out and looked at mine, no buds in sight yet. That's okay, we need more winter, more precipitation.

Those Gambel Quail I have in my backyard everyday in Arizona, always waiting for handouts by the backdoor...I usually toss out a couple slices of bread or some vegetables, they love carrots.

Cute and quite smart birds. Especially cute in the early summer when they have about a dozen babies tagging along with the male and female, which can fly short distances in a day or two after birth...really amazing creatures.
