Been missing the cute animal pics, but this one is a lie. Come on. We all know that the rats with fluffy tails neither yawn, nor rest. They are always scurrying about trying to GET you.
This thread does cheer me up quite a bit, even if it's in a sort of, "At least we're doing something, even if it makes no difference" kind of a way.
Sorry I woke up cranky at 3 a.m. also... squirrels. Just below snakes on the like, animal phobia scale, okay maybe snakes and scorpions suck too.

You should definitely avoid our house then. We have a 4' ball python and usually have a rat or two (in a cage of course) as well. My aunt also had a chipmunk for a while.

Good question at this point. @Lessifer has pretty much disappeared from here, though he could still do something with it at this point (and he better).
We also have the "problem" of @Robino1 being a supporter of this thread/petition since way back when. She's been streaking the halls of ECF every time we get another 1,000 signatures. Makes me a little queasy to think about jumping ship right now, I really miss her.
We've vowed she will streak for eternity every 1,000 signatures going forward too.
I don't think at least three old regulars to the thread, @DC2 , @Katya and @Lessifer , know that she has passed. God, now other names are flooding in too.
The pictures are a riot. Usually. You find one that cracks you up, post it in triumph, then realize you posted it last week too.
I personally prefer to come on this thread and do mental gymnastics through pages of funny/cute/adorable photographs than spend one thin dime on an FAD approved BP drug to stave off dementia.
Fair warning, next Halloween I'm making a beeline to your place dressed as a giant squirrel. I figure when you open the door and see me, you'll scream and run for the city lights. I grab the goodie bowl and voila, instead of having to go through several neighborhoods begging for candy, one stop and I have enough candy to last me months.

LOL my favorite holiday is Halloween and I never get trick or treaters anymore. That's the one time I'd actually WELCOME a squirrel, you are supposed to confront your fears.
I will say I used to get mad at parents who dress up and collect extra candy for the kids. I used to dole it out to them but only because the husband made me.... Felt like cheating somehow, I mean I always want to say, "You do realize you are an adult and you could have bought ALL the candy you want, for the cost of that costume." LOL.

This is a small old gold rush town. On Halloween "downtown," the entire block, is under strict traffic control for all the little trick-or-treaters. All the shop owners, from the saloon to bordello-turned-hotel to the fire department to the Mexican restaurant to the thrift store set up a little table on the sidewalk and hand out goodies. Kids come from up to 30 miles away to participate here. It's a riot! Even the dogs are in costume. Pretty sure the posse, or Yosemite Sam, would run any adult trying to pass themselves off as a trick-or-treater, out of town. (Personally, I would have made my husband out the treats if he was going to behave like that, but that's just me.)
Anyway, we don't get anybody out here begging for treats, except the wildlife, but in town it's a very safe, highly entertaining event with a lot of creativity on exhibit. I know, TMI.
