Any special way of drilling it? I've seen some people do it while submersed in water. I think I'll be drilling it out soon.

No I just put a little tape around the drillbit so my drill would grab it and ran the drill nice and slow. The 54 doesn't take a lot out of the hole but you might be surprised how little it takes to make a big difference in draw...

Thank you for your input. Much obliged.

Oh and I got blisters on my fingers from rolling that mesh so tight lol

Looks great! Enjoy.

Many I speak to actually lower the nic. I was one. I used 18 on cartos some time back. I needed an immediate drop pretty much to 12 once I trod icing rebuildables.
Certainly not everyone.

Any tips for rolling mesh? I was struggling with a 70mm piece. It was 400 though, waiting on my 500.

Straighten out a small paper clip. I found 80mm too tight. I removed some. And finally ended up at 67mm with a tight roll on a small paper clip. That combines a tight roll of mesh and a small hole in the center. I have not found a closed hole setup that wicks well.

And I did a quick Jack Frost to the whole mesh. Rolled it. Did a torch quench once on the top 1/3 where the wrap will be.

Nudge it up a bit. There is a short between that top coil and the next one down. Maybe even bring the top in toward the post so it's not too far away.
What's happening is that one section of wire is likely sitting on unoxidized mesh. You may think you got it all but there's a small spot likely.
If nudging doesn't fix, loosen that top screw, twist wire out, and run one burn/quench on the top 1/3. Basically everything above the base. What's in juice doesn't matter.

While you're at it, that is likely why it's so damn harsh. A hot spot will scorch your vape BAD. fix that and vape the 18 again.

GREAT TIPS! Will try it today. I`ll let you know how it goes. thank you!!!

Shorts. I'm going to have to cut off and fold under the edge of my wick, but I had to walk away for a while. I probably won't work on it again until tomorrow.
Do exactly that. And slide a paper clip in the center, wrap on the wick, then slip the whole thing in. It'll give you the opportunity to make sure it's all snug.
Side note, if you run a torch over it, you'll see any loose "hairs". You don't have to hold to torch, just pass it over the wick. And don't forget to check the bottom of the wick for loose hairs. You know they can't touch the bottom.

Yeah my new juice sucks I think, RBA or not. I am going to try a wick without oxidizing it to see what that's all about.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2

I started oxidizing less after watching a video from a forum member, AlmightyGod, only torching twice and no oxidizing with juice or quenching. He torches once unrolled, rolls the wick and then torches one more time, then wraps the coil on the wick and then installs. He did this on a hell fire mega, followed it and works well. I try to tighten up the coils some when i install it, still working on that part, but this has worked better for me on my cobra then previous attempts.

Also I am using a 55mm wide wick, will bump up to 60 or 65 next and probably keep it there, right now using 400 mesh and it is working very well. Waiting for the 500 mesh in a co-op.

I was gonna try some #500 mesh the other day, but my damn torch lighter ran out of juice and it won't refill anymore for some reason, so I had to pick up a new torch (a real one this time) before I could make any new wicks . . . I guess you get what you pay for, those $3 torch lighters are only good for a couple refills apparently. That said, it's still going pretty good just using one of my original solid #400 wicks. I popped a couple of coils from shorts last weekend, but it's chugging along since then.

My first wick for the cobra was 70mm, rolled that thing forever and ended up with 4 blisters. The 500 should be easier than the 400 to roll tight, Im also waiting on my 500 from the co-op.

Did you like how the 70mm wicks? I can't remember who but in another thread someone posted the question of what size works best for certain devices. One of the posters, who I had seen post a lot in the 500 mesh thread, was using 60mm for the cobra. I am guessing though that was 500 mesh and not 400. The 55 wide wick (#400 mesh) is wicking really well for me, so interested to see if the 70 does better.

I have gone as high as 80 mm wicks in my opinion, it wicks better on 65-67. It just seems to wick better with a little air around it. I also haven't had success with no quench. I took the next best. Quick light torch (orange, not red bright glow), then roll. Torch and quench the top 1/3 once. Leave bottom 2/3 alone.

Emonty rolls a 60mm. I went a tad larger.

I'm using 400 and I also didn't roll it with a hole in the center. It wicks fine vaping at a slight horizontal position. Once you vape vertical you can only get about 4-5 good drags and then it's dry. I'm wondering if 400 would wick better with the hole in the center, so when you're taking hits it's also pulling juice up. 400 certainly does not hold up to my chain vaping, but I can work with it until my 500 arrives.
