Hi all
I am completely new to vaping - 5 days in to not touching an analogue:laugh: I have some really basic gear but it has helped me amazingly well considering I'm a smoker of 25 years! In this short time I have come to love vaping - no smell, tastes great (almost) every time ( i mean newbie things like cartomizers running dry etc!) I initially thought this would tide me over until I got over the smokes then stop completely. This is still my intention but as the days have passed I'm already dreading giving up the e cigs!
I want to quit nicotine for good so I guess I can always vape 0% stuff but by then I really dont want to be bothered with it all.
Anyone else in the same boat?
Cheers

Personally? I never really wanted to quit smoking...aside of the health risks...so really have no intention/desire to quit vaping.

I LIKE the "activity" of smoking, the hand/mouth interaction, the satisfaction of inhaling, etc. But I knew that smoking had a number of nasty side-effects that I needed to avoid. So for me, vaping is an activity that I feel no need to limit/avoid...but that's just me!

Cure1973, it really is whatever you want it to be! Not a darn thing wrong with vaping, cutting your nic down until you reach 0mg, and chucking your vaping gear if that is your desire.

I don't see this as an "either/or" proposition.

I like DetraMental's response...why worry about it? Vape until you either a) No longer wish to vape or b) Vape on indefinitely. Rather than set an arbitrary deadline, which more often than not leads to frustration or failure, why not simply enjoy the fact that you have reduced your health risks considerably, and let nature take its course?

I was a smoker for over 20 years and loved every minute of it. The only reason I switched to vaping was its healthier and cleaner... No ash mess! I am currently on 12mg nicotine. I may cut down to 6 later or maybe mix to 8 or so... But I enjoy the sensation of vaping so I will probably never quit!

Yes I agree to everything you've said - and to others responses. I am in that same boat where as I have never 'wanted' to quit. I was always happy smoking the real smokes. In fact I find it so annoying and detrimental that people always say you will only quit if you REALLY want to! Who ever wants to quit something that they are addicted to?
I guess in this short time I have seen myself come so far and I know that I can actually do it I am now panicking that there is something else that I have to overcome! I mean to me e cigs ARE a way of quitting the real smokes I just never thought that it would just be a replacement! Early days and I'm probably over thinking it all!!
Funny thing is the neighbours are smoking and the wind is wqfting the ... smoke in through the window - it smells gross, thats something I never thought I would EVER say! Its liberating!
Cheers!

I have no intentions on quitting vaping right now, I have dropped my nic % to 5-8mg and will continue vaping even at 0mg. It's more or less the community that keeps me vaping, I am sure that I wouldn't have that big of an issue stopping right now but I am having fun and enjoying myself. After you get away from cigarettes and get the urges away it turns into a hobby for most of us. Once you see everything that is out there its just..'gimme gimme gimme'.

Nope, no intention of not vaping, hard enough trying to cut down on vape gear investment, once they stop making kewl gear that I just got to have, I'll probably stop having to buy it. lmao. Just wondering what the general consensus is on how many backup mods one should have?

No idea mate I'm a noob! I am also a drummer whos rather partial to the latest 'drumming' investments! At least I'll have more money to spend on that!
Seriously I cant get over how big this industry is - and thats pretty lame from a long term smoker. Either the marketing is all wrong or I'm just blind folded. If I had any business brains I would be promoting and targeting the smokers, ie, local shops, pubs etc. There would be a huge amount of money to be made plus helping people overcome their 'addictions'
Mmmmm now theres a thought.. ha ha

I have already cut my nicotine from 24 mg to 12mg. I do plan on going to 0mg of nicotine but will continue to vape.....it takes the edge off of thinking I'm smoking.

Plus the flavors are fantastic. Have lost weight because of vaping....no more getting up to look for something sweet....I just vape.

Good Luck Cure.

Yeah I think my vape is around 6% - sure is less than the fags but getting more used to it now! This community is great - a couple of first posts and some great replies - thankyou. Maybe I will too be like that but at the moment it was all about quitting for me then deal with the 'e cigs' later on!
If I can get to 0% then really who cares - I mean the Turkish have been smoking hookah for years!

Once I realized how easy quitting the stinkies was by vaping, it didn't take long before I found I was instead hooked on vaping. Not just for how much better it tasted and smelled, but once I started DIY juicing and rebuilding coils and such, it became a hobby as it does for many of us. Then on top of it all is the fact that there's always something better out or coming out, which keeps the "upgrade itch" tingling lol.
That being said, I'm in no hurry to quit vaping because I feel much healthier than I have in decades AND I'm still lucky enough to be ahead of the game financially since I budget carefully and DIY a lot.

I am cutting back my Nic though, and I hope to vape 0nic when I get to that point. ;)

I loved smoking. Always concious of WHAT I was smoking. I used to smoked AMerican spirit. About 5 years ago they started putting flame ......ant in the paper. I then started rolling my own cigs. I used the thinnest Rizzla paper and bought organic rolling tobacco. I had no plan to quit. It just snuck up on me. I had my first good vape last month and haven't smoked a cig since.

I definalty have no plan to quit vaping. I love vaping. I do have a plan to lower my nic levels. Right now Im at 18 percent. I vape all day and that leaves me a bit nic'd out. Next time I buy juice it will be at 11 percent. Then 6. No plan for anything lower than 6.
VAPIN ALL DAY.

I keep changing my thoughts on it, to be honest. Would I like to get rid of the nicotine habit? Sure. It's not necessary to my life. But, since I found I can enjoy it with no guilt, and it's a healthier option, I don't have a problem continuing to vape for an extended period of time. I also think I'll need a lot more time vaping to really feel confident stepping away from it for good, to make sure a lot of the smoking habit is gone for good as well. I'm in no rush towards any particular outcome, as another couple of years vaping won't impact me much, except maybe my wallet.

Will I still be vaping 5 years from now? I don't know, and that's okay. I won't have been smoking for those 5 years, that's for sure. For the first time in decades, i can see a future with no smoking OR vaping, before I couldn't, I couldn't imagine living without smoking - and that's addiction talking, plain and simple. That alone is amazing to me.
