I am fairly new to vaping. I know what is the diff between the non-mod like ego stuff. I do have an ego twist and a spinner. On mod, I have a tesla and a vamo. On mechanical mod, What I see is that they are BEAUTIFUL and can be EXPENSIVE too. They have no electronic protection like those mods at all. If there is anything go wrong, beside relying on protected battery, your hands and mouth will take the hit. I don't think people would love the look and take the risk. Please tell me what a mechanical mod can do which the mod can not. Thanks.

Well, with advances in battery technology, the IMR (or hybrid) batteries handle much higher amp draws than protected batteries, so using one of these greatly lessens the risk of a thermal runaway. Also these batteries are designed to "vent", and not "explode" like protected cells pushed beyond their limits.

As far as what the mod can do, a mech can be recovered from the ocean floor, cleaned and dried and will still work flawlessly. Cant pull a Vamo from the bottom of a kiddy pool and expect it to work. Also mech's have no limits, so if you want to run an rba with 28g at .5 ohms, you can. I won't go into why you'd want to, there are many threads on sub-ohm vaping already.

Those are the main points, durability and without limitations save those of the battery itself. There are plenty of threads on this subject as well, though, that go into much more detail.
