Okay, I'm going to self promote a little and just point out that one acronym can carry multiple definitions.

VAPOR:
Vapers Advocating Positive Options & Resources
Vaporizer Awareness and Protection ORganization

...and my personal favorite just for the humor factor:
Viable Alternatives Prompting Oncologist Retirement

They all seem so boring, how about: Vapers Against Governmen Intrusion Now Association? ;)

Seriously they really are boring. CAT and OAT seem decent, but the rest are kind of unmemorable, both the words and the acronyms.

Gotta put that one in the poll!

But at the same time, having a boring acronym makes it sound more professional, doesn't it?

Hey guys and gals. Just a heads up, I am not at all fit to fill this 1024 application out myself. On Thursday I will be attending my lodge at which about 5 lawyers frequent. Maybe they'll lend me a hand.

If any of you are familiar with the 1024 application, please feel free to let me know via PM or an email.

i forgot (as if anyone reads my *****). if this is going to be a dues paying organization perhaps there should be an option to pay a little extra for r and d. we're going to need a real dyi method to make smoke juice. perhaps a check mark for an extra donation for this effort. maybe the organization could get a proper analysis done on tobacco juice, or something to that effect. a notion worthy of playing with, i believe.

Personally, I'm glad to see none of the top choices include any form of the word 'vape'.

In spite of it being the term we use here, it's come up in several threads that it just doesn't sound good, and isn't likely to give outsiders a warm, fuzzy feeling about what we do.

I had a conversation with my sister the other day (she'd never heard of PV's before me), and she said the same thing.

Obviously calling it "smoking" is out of the question, and calling it "vaping" may carry with it some negative connotations, at least until the word makes it into Webster's dictionary; but then, what DO we call this activity?

And for that matter, if we don't call it a "e-cigarette" or a "personal vaporizer" (which does sound funny to fresh ears), what do we call this device? I'm tempted to call it what it is and say its a nicotine inhaler, but that doesn't sound good either.

I'm normally not the type to debate semantics but we are talking about public perception here.

At this point, i'm privy to saying i'm "vaping" with my "PV" until something better coes along, because i think those terms sound MUCH better than the alternatives (although i still call it an electronic cigarette when introducing it to a smoker who's never heard of it, it's easier to wrap their minds around the concept that way).

And to be honest, i love the term "vaper" it just sounds right

I've been using the word inspirator when explaining it to people - I have to explain it about 10 times a day.

Vape/vaping was getting a very negative reception, but inspirator just gets them to ask more & how it works, instead of turning their nose up at it immediately - and I use NIC's for the models (nicotene inspirator case = 901, 510 etc), should have been NIM's I suppose. Since I changed the name nobody has called them poison, or said they contained anti-freeze LOL - they listen instead of telling me what they heard.

I thought INSPIRE would be a great name for the ECO, because it is a very positive sounding word that is easy to remember, but I couldn't think of any acronyms for it :(

inspire - inhale
inspirator - A device, such as a respirator or inhaler, by which a gas, vapor, or air is drawn in.

Then of course theres all the normal meanings of inspire. motivate, encourage, lead to action etc.

hehe I'm an inspirer - and will keep on telling anyone who will listen - these things are lifesavers....

Would be great if we could inspire the FDA to tell the truth & keep them on the market.

Good thinking Ginger :thumb: very creative!

Although i have gotten good reception so far calling it a "vaporizer." I generally avoid calling it a "personal vaporizer," except in its abbreviated form on this column (PV is nice and compact).

Inspirator... i should get into the habit of that by saying it at least 3 times daily!
