Mike .. most Vacation rental homes require at least a 6-7 day commitment, at least the ones I have looked at .. so, stay 2 days, stay 5 days, stay the whole time it matters not .. the cost per head should be the rental divided by the number of people .. IOW, we all share equally in the total rental cost .. 10 people / $2000 a week rent / $200 a head .. example .. a rental Home of some sort would likely be the least cost alternative, at least IMO ..

No problem - we're still in. More time to raise havoc have fun and get into trouble.

  • Payment Schedule:
  • Amount due 7/28/2015: $1055.64
  • Amount due 3/3/2016: $996.64
1/2 due today won't work.....is that based on march or april arrival?

there are others that have indicated they might be able to attend if it were a more central location, Like Memphis, Nashville, etc ..
actually florida is seeming like it may work better for several and flights seem to be as cheap or cheaper than memphis. Just found 62.00 each way for @yiddleboge6 and the other day it was 150.00 I thought RT but that was each way my bad. This is for march of next year, the furthest it goes out to right now. It would be more driving for you, but unless you don't want others driving your truck, kenna and I would be fighting over the driving. We're both much prefer to drive.

however, we're not going to be hugging 24/7
he don't know me very good does he?

Is this a valid statement .. ?? No real interest in outside activities, sight seeing, local inexpensive things like Zoos, Botanical Gardens, etc .. ?? "World's Biggest Ball of String" .. etc .. ??
I don't mind a trip here or there, particularly if we all go in groups. I just don't want everyone going off every day in 100 different directions.

do what i want on any given day.
ya think so do ya? lol You can do what you want as long as we all want to do it with ya! hehehe you aint gittin outta my sight missy ma'am

Been whiling away the afternoon, checking out various places In both possible states and came across this possible...just food for thought...

Pre-payment booking is generally due on the day you book it .. since I ran the numbers today, it showed today on the booking .. and, as I've said before, I am willing and able to pay the upfronts and collect later if need be .. you'll also find that with most Vacation homes, the balance is due a month before arrival and there can be limited, sometimes no, cancellation privilege .. and, that's why commitment is so important at the early stage of something like this ..

We prefer Florida for the location but Memphis or Nashville is not a deal breaker? I'd rather take a walk on the beach than a stroll on a Memphis streets.

Are we looking at 3-4 days or an entire week? I'm confused on that.

I guess ideally the 'house' would offer enough space for the crowd. Be nice if it had multiple 'hangout' places where folks could break out into small groups at times instead of everyone being concentrated in one central room. I'm more concerned about finding suitable lodging than I am the location.

We're not attending w/ the intention of a lot of sight-seeing. That said, particularly if we're looking at a full week, it might be nice to have some attractions in the area. I can't see a dozen people being in the same house together 24x7.
I'm with Mike. I'd prefer FL & beaches & seafood. Several different spaces to gather, big kitchen with room for everyone in the mornings.

After some brainstorming and a conversation with a very special porcher, I am now able to commit to either destination.
(crossing my fingers the group decides on the house with the tiki hut in FL).

Deba and a couple of us did some math and with the 13 that are in the commited or almost 100% the cost per head looks to be $146 for the tiki hut house. If we add in more heads it only drops the price.

The sooner we can come to a consensus and get lodging booked the better our chance of getting the place that makes the most of us happy.

ETA Just throwing it out there... Looking at starting and ending the stay on a week day that would allow the fliers a lower airfare if possible.

Mr C is a possibility but not enough to figure into the initial cost.

Here are my Odyssey commitments, regardless of where we wind up as long as my RL situation doesn't drastically change prior to our rental deposit:

I'll pay my share of da lodging regardless of my length and location of stay; and even help with up-front monies, if it makes the planning process smoother. As to my time commitment:

if locally - I'll spent as many hours as I can with ya'll and will go home to tend to my bride and da Casa Iffy as required. I also should be able to provide some airport (SRQ/TIA/PIE) shuttle services if required.

if out-of-town - I plan to spend three nights away. That should give me two full days to hug and get hugged, unless da tribe votes me out early. I can also hit da 'bus stops' fer anyone here that needs a 'lift' within a reasonable distance of my route* (MMMV). If ya utilize my offer, I'll accept NO gas money. But, I will leave da gathering as per my schedule above.

I have a few feelers out locally as to a 'can't pass up dat deal'. So far, zilch. But, I haven't heard back on most of 'em. Da most critical factor is da number of 'sleep over' participants.

* Swinging over to Orlando will only add 3/4 of an hour to da drive time. (hint,hint...)

If that's true then, why the Hell don't you just eat chicken?

Did ya ever get full eating chicken tail?

Plus then I can share the Poo Bear bedroom with someone. :w00t::thumbs:

Hades, I'll just take da couch in da rec room!

Willie.....how do you want us to get the money to you? I can mail a check, but considering usps issues.....paypal would be the easiest and quickest way ......with some assurance it would get where it belongs. Thoughts on this?
I want to start sending towards my part as soon as I can.....even if I have to send it in small monthly amounts between my next check in August and the final date

What weekly rate did you do the math with - when I check that house for April - the cost is $2,899 for one week. That would be $223 each for 13 people.

After studying and considering some of the earlier input, centered around

"My primary objective is to visit with my Porch Family and that's my #1 goal, all other things are secondary and unimportant" ..

Is this a valid statement .. ?? No real interest in outside activities, sight seeing, local inexpensive things like Zoos, Botanical Gardens, etc .. ?? "World's Biggest Ball of String" .. etc .. ??

OK....I want to go swimming. Botonical Gardens......sounds nice...........sight seeing works..... I like the Zoo.
