After some brainstorming and a conversation with a very special porcher, I am now able to commit to either destination.
(crossing my fingers the group decides on the house with the tiki hut in FL).

Deba and a couple of us did some math and with the 13 that are in the commited or almost 100% the cost per head looks to be $146 for the tiki hut house. If we add in more heads it only drops the price.

The sooner we can come to a consensus and get lodging booked the better our chance of getting the place that makes the most of us happy.

ETA Just throwing it out there... Looking at starting and ending the stay on a week day that would allow the fliers a lower airfare if possible.

Mr C is a possibility but not enough to figure into the initial cost.
If it's Florida and any place as nice as the Tiki Hut House I'm in. Just tell me where to send the check and who to make it out to.

Here are my Odyssey commitments, regardless of where we wind up as long as my RL situation doesn't drastically change prior to our rental deposit:

I'll pay my share of da lodging regardless of my length and location of stay; and even help with up-front monies, if it makes the planning process smoother. As to my time commitment:

if locally - I'll spent as many hours as I can with ya'll and will go home to tend to my bride and da Casa Iffy as required. I also should be able to provide some airport (SRQ/TIA/PIE) shuttle services if required.

if out-of-town - I plan to spend three nights away. That should give me two full days to hug and get hugged, unless da tribe votes me out early. I can also hit da 'bus stops' fer anyone here that needs a 'lift' within a reasonable distance of my route* (MMMV). If ya utilize my offer, I'll accept NO gas money. But, I will leave da gathering as per my schedule above.

I have a few feelers out locally as to a 'can't pass up dat deal'. So far, zilch. But, I haven't heard back on most of 'em. Da most critical factor is da number of 'sleep over' participants.

* Swinging over to Orlando will only add 3/4 of an hour to da drive time. (hint,hint...)

Did ya ever get full eating chicken tail?

Hades, I'll just take da couch in da rec room!

A reminder that I too will volunteer for airport limo duties if it's here in Florida. Only problem possible with that is I drive a Hyundai Velostor. It was my reasonably priced, post cancer, mid-life crisis. :thumb:

It is just have to book by May if I'm not mistaken.
In trying to work out the logistics and other factors, such as prior important commitment dates......May is out of the question. We would be missing a pretty important contingent/group who would be unable to attend .....therefore we are looking for suitable lodgings in April......tentatively shooting for 4/16/2016 - 4/23/2016

Can I ask the group what they feel is important at the location selected?

Is it local things to do? - are they costly, affordable or free?
Is it the view? - lake, beach, mountain?
Is it what the house offers? - pool, games, size?
Is it the location in relation to a major airport? or ease for everyone to drive there?

I prefer a FL location because we'd like to visit my sister and family in Ft. Myers for a day or 2. We'd fly and rent a car when we get there. April sounds great, but it's early enough we could plan for whenever.

We're in for the cost of a week even if we don't stay for the entire time.

I'd expect to spend most of the time at the house, but it might be nice to hang out at the beach for a few hours or check out a local attraction one day. Whatever. Hanging out around a pool at the house with drinks and snacks sounds lovely.

OKay, is anybody keeping a running list of the accommodations that have been looked at thus far? Am I correct in thinking that thus far the consensus seems to be Florida? Due to time constraints and other factors, can we agree that we are looking at beginning or mid April 2016?

I totally agree, cocktails by the pool is one of my favorite things immediately after cocktails in the pool while floating on a nice, comfortable float.

My previous post doesn't make any sense to me looking back at it. Sorry.

We have a dedicated Team of Professionals working diligently on the Lodging issue, based upon a Florida scenario .. at this point, April 9th thru April 24th is the date range the Team is concentrating on .. and, the Team is also considering a few locales outside of the Bradenton area, yet still within reasonable distance of airports and suitable lodging .. the consensus being, at this point, we probably don't want to go much farther South than Bradenton ..

Draw a straight line from Bradenton to probably Cocoa Beach .. areas North of the line are under extreme scrutiny .. :)

It's a fluid situation, however, I have full faith and confidence detailed information will be presented by the Team as soon a it becomes available ..

I did want to add, just for informational purposes, that I have invited the "Girls Gone Wild" camera crew .. they will be staying off site and have promised to be as unobtrusive as possible .. the head Camera guy did volunteer to rig small cams throughout our Lodging spot, however, I have not yet committed to a "Big Brother" type scenario since I felt the input of the Group would need to be noted first ..

The good news is, we are projecting not only full payment and reimbursement of any and all Trip expenses to each Group Participant, but will also expect a tidy profit to be divided fairly after the publication of the DVD and Blu Ray .. and, as a side note, Showtime and Cinemax as well as the Discovery Network have expressed interest .. we've got a call in to Netflix, but no one has responded yet ..

I'm kind of tied up in skype right now, but have been running all kinds of scenarios through my thoughts. If no other way, and we can tie down a definite place we'll stay and dates.....reached out to SIL on fb to see if anyone there would be willing to take me to Philly airport and pick me up on return. Should be able to find a decent low cost air rate by booking far in advance, to Orlando.....would just need somebody to pick me up there.
Would so much rather take the road trip.....will discuss this all when I'm free to get to the HO
I can pick you up in Orlando and you can go with us to wherever they settle Yiddles. We're ten minutes from the airport and have two spare rooms if overnight is needed.

It is based on April, 2016 .. the second number is what's due to be paid in March .. up front, IOW ..

Pre-payment booking is generally due on the day you book it .. since I ran the numbers today, it showed today on the booking .. and, as I've said before, I am willing and able to pay the upfronts and collect later if need be .. you'll also find that with most Vacation homes, the balance is due a month before arrival and there can be limited, sometimes no, cancellation privilege .. and, that's why commitment is so important at the early stage of something like this ..
May is MUUUUUCH cheaper than April in most places down here. Snowbird season is from October through April. Everything is marked up at that time (Including our resort). Hurricane season is from first of June till the end of October.

Sorry I've been away for awhile. I've been working with an editor and under deadlines that I'm not used to being under.

Gracie was kind enough to shoot me an email and I have read through all of the posts. These are my thoughts :2c::

Memphis isn't doable for us. (Us meaning Greg and I). Depending on his work schedule and whether he's OOT, Greg may not stay the entire time, but his place is paid for, just in case.

We're all the way in if it is in Florida anywhere. Greg and I would bunk the week with the group. If costs are $200.00 or under, we will pick up our two plus one.

If the place has waterfront and a place to park the boat, all the better. A marina with a boat dock nearby would work too. Boat seats ten...at a time, counting the Captain.

We would be up to taking in a couple of sights, Sarasota (where Greg grew up) is just a short drive (like fifteen minutes) from Bradenton. In Sarasota there are lots of attractions there that don't cost an arm and a leg, the botanical gardens, the jungle gardens, Ringling, classic car museum, art museums, a beautiful beach and so on....you can google it. If anyone wants to ride up to St. Pete, there's the Dali Museum, Chihuly art glass museum and Ybor City, where the original Columbia Restaurant is located.

Hanging out in real life with the Porchers is my goal. I don't get in the water in April, too cold, but sitting by the pool or lounging on a dock is ideal.

If it is more affordable for folk to fly into Orlando, and they can get here a day early, we will certainly pick them up and bring them along. We have a two bedroom suite open for anyone who needs need it. The rear truck cab seats three. (I know sometimes there are great Orlando deals on flying). We'll be glad to drive into Tampa and pick up someone, if needed, and get them to Bradenton/Sarasota.

Greg's birthday is April 28th, so we may need to bake a cake.

We're on a super-strict diet right now, but by April we may be able to splurge a bit....Bring a big pot, a 20 pound case of crab legs at Publix is less than $150.00 and I know better than any restaurant how to do those. (Just sayin'.)
