morri - our standard crew is you, whis, atty, nat, tweety, catt, ces, starry, fran, myself and usually amandamarie but because of her mom's health she has not been with us much.

Also your "this committee" vs tib's "standard committee"....
jj2 withdrew from the "PVT"... but kept the contest stuff. "This committee", IMO, is about the contest as it relates to the thread ("how you would like it to be" request from j0ker).... so YES it includes jj. Should also include j0ker if he wants to give any preliminary input before we reply to his request.

jj is impacted by decisions here (needing to mark threads or not needing to mark threads anymore, for example.). I'm not debating if it is more or less work, here and now. That's not the current point.

There are other people that could provide input as they have participated in several "turnings" and know how that goes. IDK if there is anyone on the contest threads, or content in them, that would provide input. I've pretty much stayed away from them (in any detail anyway) since I am not eligible and defer any final contest decisions to jj and/or j0ker.

It's a real catch-22. How do you allow input? Blatantly posting a message to all of ECF that you are doing this and then taking more than the year we have left to coordinate all the feedback and then come up with...what? Don't want to exclude anyone either. So I guess we just discuss it here as best we can.

Who else do you think we should include? Will it help or hinder our goal (not the process, the goal)?

MarkFM is in this discussion, for example. He's not on Tib's standard crew list. I think he voted too. CES?

this is the basics of what we have unless there are strenuous objections from those who haven't had a chance to chime in yet.


what we want
1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet an entry in the monthly contests and the year –end grand prize drawing. Eligible threads will started in the new vets forum prior to turning. The welcome thread request comes through PVT, in the form of 1 post minimum in PVT. Threads must be started prior to turning and cannot be self-started

2. Avatar parties: the welcome threads of those who schedule avatar parties in advance and attend them are eligible for entry into a bonus drawing at the end of the year. The party can be rescheduled from the forum default time without penalty. However, the new vet MUST be present at the time of their turning to be eligible for the bonus drawing.

(in practice this means that threads marked -- are eligible for the GP drawing, only ++ (or threads are eligible for the bonus drawing)

(if joker can't add a bonus drawing, then a bonus entry into the GP drawing would be the second choice option).

If I may suggest that someone go forth and find a couple volunteers to read this..people who haven't really hung around PreVet.
Have them read this---if you get more than a couple questions then a little tweaking needs to be done.

Remember what jOker said, it's got to be pretty much self explanatory. Anything more than a couple question and you will lose people.

Anyway, I agree with the majority. Yes on the entire ballot as it stands. Yes on the amnesty. Possible 30-day grace period for the latecomers (eligibility for the monthly????), but I'm not willing to fight for it. It just might be a bad idea and too much work for all involved.

Honestly, I think it's good as it is now. We have to come to a decision at some point. We've already spent days tweaking. We could go on forever, but I don't have the time (or inclination) to do that. As CES said, I need to go back to work I'm actually being paid for doing.
