The knurled locking ring has come to full maturity. So f#%$^%^ sweet! There was something about the dull grey knurling on the prototype that bugged me... just a little. I think because it almost looked plastic next to the stainless steel of the rest of the body. But now... damn! That's art, Man. Almost on the level of anavidfan's pic... almost.
I'm a lowly 2nd batcher. Pity me.
Now looky here, you enviable 1st batchers, you're all gonna have to show some compassion for your 2nd batcher step-syblings. You're gonna have to get your cameras in tip top shape (buy new ones if need be). Get your Photobucket accounts in order. You're gonna need to blow up this thread with big, beautiful, enticing photos (and IN FOCUS, you buggers!) - along with descriptive accounts of your findings with the unit and how your using it etc... We 2nd batchers are gonna need to live vicariously through you until we get our greasy little paws on our own ELAs. We're gonna need to be fed, coddled and looked after... poor souls that we be. We are, after all, brethren, are we not?
And any of you that fail to reach out to us like this... well then, the 2ND BATCHER ELA POSSE will muster, equip... and come lookin' for YOU. Don't say you haven't been warned.
Don't worry, I've got my full frame, macro lens, and speed lights all set up. Photoshop and Lightroom are always queued up on my workstation so I've got you covered. It's been a few years since my last set of SuperT pix, and ELA will definitely be worthy of some hardcore photog shots!

My first order is in the first batch, but my second that in put in preorder is in the second. No worries as I at least have one to play with. Can't wait to see the new upcoming videos!

I'm just imagining the vaping you get off one 26650 (?) IMR batt! and it has a flat bottom with locking mech too..
I remember back when 18650 was a big batt....I rotate through 4 a day now (4 devices too).
That's not the only reason why i want one though... its a SuperT jumbo mechanical thats' why.
i don't consider this a hijacking but ymmv on that one...
but i wish I'd gotten in on SHOCKWAVE !

I don't know if I'm lucky or just a glutton for punishment.I got in on the shockwave(#7,waited 11 months for that bad boy) and ordered the ELA early december,so I made the first batch that should be going out soon.The ELA I ordered last night will be in the second batch,one polished(the first batch),with extra brass accent rings and one satin(second batch)

Still acclimating to it. This my 1st bottom fire device, so I'm still trying to figure out the most comfortable way to fire it with my pinky and to find the "pinky groove" w/o having to look at it.
Also kinda wish it fit my AW 18500 batteries better... I had to put two fairly thick washers in the bottom to make contact with the positive pin, which in turn moved the bottom of the battery too far from the switch pin... Had to put 4 washers on the switch to make contact and the pin is only catching as couple of threads.
That said, it looks great, feels fantastic in the hand and hits like a heavy weight boxer. No buyers remorse whatsoever!
Think I'll wait until I have my ELA in hand and then see if I can send it in to Dave for a tune up. I'm thinking that I may have gotten one of the older ones with the slightly raised center pin...
Depending on how big your hands are, I always found the 18350 and 18500 more comfortable to fire with my ring finger. Sounds weird, but once I figured it out I couldn't believe I had used my pinky for so long.
I want to say for an AW IMR 18490 I was using 2 washers and a thick o-ring in the battery tube, and it seemed to give it a nice short throw. The key for the precise plus is to get the button throw nice and short (at least in my opinion).

Now, I understand what "adjustable throw" means in the description for the ELA. Thinking it will be a good feature, as my hands have some nerve damage and sometimes I have problems with dexterity. If I can get it nice and light on the touch that will be good for me.
Getting the throw shorter was part of the plan but the switch pin is extended as far as it will go. I picked up a couple of 8X32 brass screws while I was at Lowes but when I got them back home and started cutting them down to size, I found out the we're brass plated steel...
As it stands now, I have to push the button about 1.5mm beyond the edge of the cap to make a connection. I figure a longer screw and two more washers and the throw will be perfect.
BTW... Sorry to see that your number was in the 2nd batch. If you want an early preview, we can grab a beer as soon as mines in hand.
Actually, I was very surprised at how light the spring is on my P+. It takes almost no effort at all move it. Assuming Dave carries the same spring over to the ELA, I think you'll be very happy with it. It takes very little effort at all.
