Thanks guys, other than that, I cant imagine why ELA would twice get all loose? Could extreme heat cause a battery to swell or vent? Because it did continue to work. It VERY hot in an un-air conditioned car. I probably couldnt tell if ELA was hot from vaping and the ambient heat or if the battery was acting up.

All I know is the battery does look odd on the neg/flat side, like rusty near the plastic edge.

Hey, window mode looks like a good idea. Haven't done that in a while.

Also, I decided to build my kayfun with a dual coil this evening. Except I did it in a weird way I've never seen it done before. It's a dual coil built with a single unbroken strand of kanthal and silica. I wrapped a coil around the left 1/3 of a wick, bent the wick in half, then wrapped the second coil back to meet the beginning of the first. The halfway point spanning the silica bend is under one screw, the ends under the other. Then I just stuffed the wick into the vape chamber like cramming a pillow into its case.

I wish I'd gotten pics of the process, but I fully expected it to suck worse than my microcoil experiment so I didn't bother. Lo and behold, it's pretty amazing! Flavor is just as rich and saturated as my single coils, but I get the same vapor with half the draw. Plus it burns my lips a little, and it sounds a little like bacon in a skillet. I might have to use my not-shorty t-tip.

If I do it again I'll take pics.

Sounds like a vent to me.

Sorry guys should have been more descriptive. The ELA is the real McCoy where as the clone is the Hercules and the Terminator. They just arrived today. The finish is close but not perfect. I am happy though. They look really good together. Would have got the originals but A - I am poor, B - I wanted the brush finish and C - You can no longer buy one of them.

Sorry for the confusion.

I was going to post a scene from American Beauty but then watched it and realized it's not forum appropriate :p

lol because of that movie whenever my wife and I see a plastic bag blowing across the road or litter stirred up by dirt devils we always say, "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

Does that battery smell weird? I'd think it would if it had vented.

I can see how an ELA might loosen up due to heat. Maybe a little sweat and juice, too. The expansion and contraction of materials of different thicknesses and forms is bound to have an effect.

A truly vented battery, should end up unusable after venting... The temperatures should melt the jacket, the pressure released should tear it open, and you would probably have quite a mess to clean up too.

I'm thinking it might be something less drastic that happened to your battery, Pris.

I think back to when I used alkaline batteries in everything under the sun... You know when one of them might leak a little corrosive battery acid from over discharging or VERY HIGH HEAT? I'm thinking that might have happened in this case. I assume the looseness of the ELA was due to expansion and contraction of the locking mechanism inside the ring, as Pris said it inside a HOT car.

If it had truly vented though, I would expect a mess to clean up and some damage to car interior as well.

Hey redrhino, the shipment notification means your ELA is being finished, not that it's out the door. David explained this earlier in this thread:

I apologize for that, i have Kevin Print up the Box Labels in advance, put them on the boxes and fill the small items on the orders(see example below), then i prepare and ship the ELA's, it helps to save time having them printed ahead of time, but unfortunately, stamps.com puts on the notice it has "shipped" when it should say "pending". You'll know it's on it's way when it says "accept or pickup" in the status column of tracking.

Your wait is nearing its end, though.
