The ELA as do all mechanical mods, ground through two areas, friction (the button to the bottom cap) and the spring. Increased resistance = increased heat. Two areas to pay attention to on the ELA, the button to cap. Take a 400+ grit piece of sandpaper, wrap it around a sharpie and spin it inside the button cap where the button passes through. Spin you button inside some fine steel wool to clean that up. On the compression ring, look inside for the aluminum compression band, clean that up with some 400 grit (aluminum oxidizes easily but is mostly invisible). Next, you can try the HD spring (its .025 vs. 022 on the stock spring) You can also intertwine two springs for increased amperage load.

I will try these things. Thanks David

When using sand paper on the compression band do we sand the part that makes contact with the telescopic tube ( flat side) or the outer part that makes contact with the inside of the locking ring ( rounded side ) I was always a bit hesitant to do the rounded part that touches the locking ring.

Cant wait to see the video.

The Side that touches and clamps onto the extension tube.

Thanks, thats what I figured, but when I was desperate, when even putting a new unused compression ring did not help I did sand one , maybe 2 of them on both sides. Probably made things worse :)

Probably didn't help or hurt, the problem with gripping wasn't sanding on your units. I machined down your compression caps about .010 for more travel.

Ok so let's say you drop $200 on a mod then wait almost a year to get it. Then for the first 2 weeks you're stuck trouble shooting it's locking mechanism and trying to figure out why the button is burning your finger. Emails to the company and pm's go unanswered. You wouldn't be real pleased with the experience, am I right?
Well as a first time customer for super T, this has been my experience. Sorry just stating the facts. I gather this is not the norm but will I order again? Never. Will I recommend them? Nope. For now anyway my hot button has stopped. Not a clue why. I'm not doing anything any different. Same attys, batterys and builds I've been using and that were just burning my finger a few days ago.

"compression caps" ? Do you mean the locking rings that the bands fit into? Just trying to make sure Im understanding.

The reason I was tightening was that it was slipping all the time. Now Im so paranoid that its slipping when I press the button. Im constantly readjusting. My gripping strength is very weak because of my stupid hand/ nerve damage. Im scared to take it apart in fear that I mess them up as they are working great , except the loosening once in a while.

Does anybody know what the compression caps are?

Jeez, I feel for you, first impressions are the most important. With all things especially high end devices one does not expect to troubleshoot, clean , etc. and you shouldn't.

I know I myself want to get it and just " use the heck out of it" hopefully David can help.

There have been a few w problems and much more that have had trouble free use for almost a year.

SuperT has always answered my emails-eventually..In fact I recently had a problem-emailed SuperT on 4/15, received a response on 4/15, then received a Shipping notice later that day......My replacement part is scheduled for delivery today 4/17...:)

I apologize your emails didn't get answered and am sorry to hear you had problems with your ELA. I answer all emails I get, sometimes it takes a bit of time to get them all answered, but I would never not answer an email. Why don't you shoot me an email to supertmanufacturing@yahoo.com with your user name as the title so i can make sure I'm receiving emails from you and can double check to see if I have old ones from you and see why they didn't get answered. The ECF PM System here we don't use for customer service, just to keep the emails all in one place. I have a contact information thread stickied above, but it's easy to miss so you may not have known about the PM system.

What ohm builds are you using on your ELA? What sort of problems did you experience with the lock?

So far email and messages went out last weekend. Nothin. Me and gota, that posted the pics of the arcing on his button have been comparing notes ever since I received mine. He's still having hot button issues. Like I had mentioned, mine stopped. We've both been at this a looong time so we're no newbs. I love my high end stuff from my reo and stingray to my hana modz but none of those have given me any grief. Glad my ELA seems to have worked itself out but hasn't been an experience I care to revisit.
Thanks for not slamming me. Lol. I know folks (myself included) can get pretty defensive of stuff they love. Wish my experience had been a better one.

Dante,

Hot buttons usually occur from a short in the atomizer. I would first double check that you have not screwed in the adjustable post too hard (only light contact needed). Outside of that, just double check that you don't have your coil(s), touching anything besides the terminals.
