Im glad you liked them icucme2, Im very tempted, I saw those and thought amazing, considering that other places they sell for a dollar each. I think someone got themselves one of those wire welding devices and said, "heck" ......... Plus you have a pretty good range of resistances to choose from.

I think I will keep twisting, I actually think the work keeps my fingers from becoming stiff, good therapy:)

I recently gave in and tried a few feet of ekowool and can't really see what the hype is. It's flimsy and easy to over-tighten. Like ana says, taste and wicking seems the same as good German silica. It definitely frays more but is much more durable. Any tips on how to prevent constricting a coil?

Giving the ekowool a good torching before doing anything with it will both keep it from fraying and taste better. It frays really easily until torched. Use a decent sized sewing needle or an unwound paper clip when wrapping your coils and it will prevent constricting it. You'll find that ekowool wicks will last a lot longer than standard silica.

Wow, thanks for the tips, guys. The torching/damp-wick/needle technique will work the best for me. Needle's part of my kit. I'll have to try the drill-bit/nail method, but don't have any thicker needles and don't have a spare bit to put in my kit.

As for the Stormy's ready wire, I can attest they they work well and taste just fine. I have them in 1.5 and 2.4 ohms. Relatively cheap and at 50 each bundle, you might end up accidentally building quite a stash. A little weaker at the joints than a good hand-twisted wire, but this is decidedly not a dealbreaker.

Now it's time to stop thinking about my future ELA and do something productive but less satisfying...

I found it to be easiest to wrap my coil around a screw. Then install on the deck. Followed by threading ekowool through the coils using a wire hook ( 26g wire about 1 inch with a hook at the end). I usually end up with 4 strands in between the coil. This method you don't waste wick and you can always re wick when needed.
Figure 8 wastes too much wick to build. And you can't re wick a figure 8.
