My first microcoil!

Build: .26 gauge kanthal wrapped 10 times around my micro screwdriver/sterilized cotton wicking/measured .85 ohms.

Best vape experience I have ever had!

I finally got around to looking through my o-rings to find the one I needed to match my favorite tip (Super-T Tanbur Stainless Steel T-Tip) to my KL.

I may be sick today, but I am celebrating my ONE YEAR SMOKE FREE very happily at home tonight!

Cucco congratulations on the 1 year smoke free!! Isn't it wonderful to be free of those health robbing cigarettes!

And congrats on the micro coil as well, they do a wonderful job of creating lot's of flavorful vapour.......

It is! How often do you have to rewick the cotton? What gauge are you using? How many wraps? What ohms?

Cucco I use mostly what's recommended in the kayfun thread. 28 or 27 gauge wire wrapped with 1/16 inside diameter. I use a small screwdriver to wrap the coil. Usually around 10 wraps to get .9 to 1.1 ohms. I torch and squeeze the coils when wrapped. Even going an extra wrap to get 1.1 to 1.2 ohms works well. I don't go much lower than .9 that as my juices tend to taste funky at lower ohms.

I change the cotton wicks in the kayfun about every 2 or 3 tanks depending on the juice. My wife uses quite dark chocolate and coffee blends that usually require more frequent changes.

Hope that helps.

And to keep this relevant I love using my kayfun on the ELA. I can hardly wait until my satin ELA arrives to use with my satin 3.1.

No clue! Made some with 30g, some with 32g, 3/4 wraps and 4/5 wraps mixed. Was experimenting with different strengths and haven't used any yet. I do 28g on my KFL and Squage with 3mm silica just double threaded and it's perfect.

The coils should last quite some time. I used regular sterile cotton to wick. Taste is great!!! Way better then the eckowool. Vape shop said the cotton will need rewicking every couple of days. We will see.

When I was using micro coils and cotton on the KFL I was getting about 15ml of juice before the cotton needed changing.

With most things vape related, the number of days will vary wildly from user to user because everyone vapes a different amount of juice per day. I like to base my usage on ml of juice and not on days. If you vape 15ml of juice a day you may only get one day from the cotton ect..

Once the micro coil is on my device, pulse it a few times then use some tweezers and compress the coil. Do this a few times before putting the cotton wick in..

When it's time to replace the cotton, I remove it and dry burn the coil, blow the crud off the coil and put a new cotton wick in..

Have fun!

Has anyone used cotton in an Odysseus or Term? Just curious, all you cotton pickers are making me curious. Are you using sterile cotton balls or cotton wick? I tried some pure cotton wick that everyone was raving about about 6 months ago. I didnt like it, it had a very dry cottony taste.so I gave up on cotton.

Cucco, did you boil your Ekowool and torch it a bit before use? I really like the Ekowool, but it will have an "off taste" if not prepped. At least thats what I think:)

I concur. I've tried boiling it--it doesn't quite do the trick for me. I went back to torching it. I've found it takes a mL or so before the juice's flavor really starts to come through. Ekowool is good stuff :) Truth be told though, I'm on a bit of a cotton kick right now. It's rockin' in the Squape, still getting it dialed in in the KFLs...

I am using sterile cotton balls. I have been vaping the same 'coffee' juice for a long time. This is the best it has ever tasted. Don't know if it is the microcoil or the cotton.

No, I did not prep my ekowool.

So far I'm having similar results from cotton, silica and ekowool. I don't taste much of a difference between ekowool and silica but they are my preference but it is hard to beat the cost of cotton. I get maybe 4 or 5 days out of them before I have to replace the wicks & clean the coil but I attribute that to the extra sweetener I add to the juice.
