It is quite a lovely hunk of stainless steel. I believe ( ive never done it) you place one of the washers under the bottom contact? Dont know how its done, but Im sure someone will hop in soon:)

Thats exactly how you do it. Threw 2 washers in there for now. It's a super short throw. Thanks P!

Love it! I am the guy that gives the Marine Corps it's reputation here :). I agree with the Harley talk but, largely lost interest when they became a mid life crises destination for fat middle age white guys that have no life. It just ruined it for me. Not to mention that Devils Ride documentary show on Discovery channel. What a joke those guys are, hence my lack of enthusiasm. :)

You mean Hardly Riders? The middle aged accountants and marketing manager trying to prove their manhood by riding a Harley to brunch on Sundays in their Harley leathers? If I were a Harley guy, I'd love those guys. They buy new and sell them at a good loss when their wives freak out about their dangerous new hobby. The Buell was my one attempt to buy American when it came to bikes but the whole Harley crowd just gave me the heebie jeebies.

My "old man" always says to people, if you want to enjoy a motorcycle, DONT get a Harley, unless you are a motorcycle mechanic or have a lot of money to spend on "fixing" it. If you dont mind a sore .... and being rattled all the time, then get a Harley.

If you want a carefree ride, comfort, speed and reliability then get BMW, Yamaha, Honda.....

Truer words were never spoken. I have a Honda Sabre V45 back when they were new and it was the smoothest ride. The Japanese do to motorcycles what David does with the ELA, what the swiss do with watches, just solid precision, performance and dependability. My dad would complain his BMW R100 cost twice as much and was half as smooth. A few years ago I bought a Buell Lighting which turned out to be awful in an urban environment so I sold it. Four years later and my testicles still haven't forgotten the jostling the Harley V twin gave them. Never again! My next bike will be a Ducati Diavel if its smooth, a BMW C 600 Sport if it isn't.

The more I look at this the more I want to punch it :)

Here is a pic of Darkzeros fantastic micro jig in my, able to palm a large pizza box, hand. Literally takes me about 6 seconds to wrap with no need to heat and crimp.

The Darkzero micro jig does look right for ELA owners, it's starting to grow on me :)

As for punching out your ELA flat button housing, go for it. I've worked with SS and have done some drilling with it. The only way I can see someone doing this is with a drill-press and then being EXTREMELY careful and taking their time. You don't have much grip area to anchor the housing down with and you are removing metal almost out to the outside diameter. Lots of lube to keep the machining going smooth, little downward force so you don't snag the drill bit, and mucho patience.

This must be directed at someone else. I am not drilling or modding anything Super T :)

Idaho: What is the diameter of the wrap on the Darkzero jig? Thanks!

Yup, those guys! But you have to admit, the other end of the Harley spectrum is just as bad - "Real men" with some sort of evil looking tattoo, poor hygiene and poor dental work spouting the unique wisdom that can only be attained with a high school education, manual labor and usually some prison time. Ah the brotherhood! Back to the ELA!

Idaho: What is the diameter of the wrap on the Darkzero jig? Thanks!

The installed jig is 1/16 and comes with an extra @ .055" (#54) or 1.397mm(Piano wire size). The .55 with the same kanthal, wick, # of wraps will give me .02/.03 higher ohm

And where can I buy one?

PM - Will/Darkzero - Fantastic guy. He just had a run and told me he made a few extras.
