As someone who's used their ELA for months non-stop, I think you're overestimating how much torque you need to lock and unlock the telescoping section. It takes very little, and you actually want to avoid cranking the heck out of it. I think a smooth locking ring would work just fine. I think there are a lot of people out there that skipped the ELA completely just due to the knurled ring - some people really dislike the way it looks. I think this is a shame because they're really missing out on a fantastic device. Personally, I love the knurling - it's very well done and I like the way it looks.

Would I buy a smooth one? Absolutely. I'd buy two!

Anyone have consistency issues while using a kick2? Sometimes I push the button, and it doesn't fire. If I move the button a little bit, while maintaining pressure, it will start working.
I have had this happen also after using a battery for a couple of hours (should have enough charge left) as soon as I replace the battery with a fully charged one the problem ceases.....
We've all had those issues, but the Kick2's are much better then the Kick1's. Clean the contacts of the kick and dab a bit of noalox on all the contacts of the kicks, including the ground. Make sure your unit is clean too. One area if you are experiencing voltage drop or inconsistent firing is the inside of the shield where the button passes through and the aluminum band inside the compression ring, roll up a bit of 400+ grit sandpaper and give it a spin inside both.
The Kick2 for the most part always fires........I have had only a few occasions where I had to remove the Kick2 and reposition it....As David said clean all your contact areas every now and then......I wipe all threads clean then reapply Noalox...Hit the Kick2 contact areas with some 400+ sandpaper.........Good to go:)
Im have that problem also. I think it varies. Some use the Kick2 all the time with no problems . Im thinking it might me the actual Kick, some work better than others?
Basically it always fires vs. the original Kick.............:vapor:

Personally, I'm not asking for anything, until everyone has their ELAs. :)

Then, who knows, what this old lady will be wanting .................A ELA-DNA30 Module .................... :)
Good choice Cucco;)
A DNA30 module might make the ELA way to long though? I have looked at the ZNA and Zen has the DNA30 module mounted side by side with the battery tube to keep it compact.....

Well, if David comes out with an accent styled locking ring you have my endorsement and I will stand corrected. It will mean he deems the form not critical to function and that there is a market out there for them. Otherwise, I will hold my ground on what I've said :)

Its time I pull the trigger and order 2 ELA Solid Top Caps....1 Satin Flower Power and 1 Polished Mag Wheel...So tell me since I have never used the adjustable draw cap, hence I have never taken my adjustable center post off... Is it tricky to get the post reinserted to the proper height so it will fire a 510 atty?

Not at all tricky, it's wicked simple. I've taken my post out a few times just to clean old juice residue out of the connector and re-lube the o-ring. You just push it in until the threads can grab, then screw it in until it hits your atty :)

Thanks Killjoy........
David before I order is there anyway I could order a few Felt PV Carry Pouch's - Black??.....They are always out of stock....I will be ordering the Solid Top Caps tomorrow..2/3/2013

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
I hope that David will decide to offer a different style of lock ring.

As avid said though, it would be nice to get all the ELA's out first, then focus on accessories. However, it seems that David is making these in certain moments where available during the ela process, idk

My opinion is that the knurling is a necessary thing....Plus the fact that it looks Super cool:2cool:

On the Knurled vs non Knurled debate, if you have stronger hands as I do, no knurling would probably work. If you have a weaker grip, the knurling helps. A good point was brought up earlier, people have a tendency to overtighten, which can damage the aluminum lock ring as its purposely made out of softer aluminum so it flexes and conforms better for grip.

Another note, Accessories for the ELA DO NOT slow up output of ELA's. We have more then just one employee here and Kevin and Will make and prep the accessories. I have plenty of ELA parts made up, but no one, save me (and I won't deviate from this until the rest of this batch are done) does the final finish/prep and assembly on them. I'm the bottle neck, so blame me.

David,
I don't think any one of us blame anyone for disciplined quality control and perfection! Do you think that optional rings would be considered? Thanks for everything.

I wouldn't call it perfection, but I do my best. We may do some optional rings in the future but I don't have a timeframe unfortunately.

Agree totally. Doesn't take much force at all. I ordinarily don't care for knurling, but the ELA is a different story. It is very well done, and I can't really explain why, but it just looks right on the ELA. I wonder how many people that passed due to the knurled ring regretted it, and have since purchased, or are trying. IMO, It would be difficult to make the ELA look bad. I think a smooth ring that matched the accent ring/top cap, one with vertical notches, or even completely smooth would look great, and if being used properly, easy to operate by most if not all. As for those of us with hand issues, I honestly don't know. I personally don't have this problem, and I feel bad for those of you who do. They could always try a smooth one out, and if it was too difficult, as with all Super T products, would have no trouble finding a new home for it.

Would I buy a smooth one, no matter the style? Absolutely. I'd buy three! ;)

I do, and that time frame is next month. Hop on down to CNC Machines R Us and pick up another. I want knurled accent rings when my ELA's arrive.

Yeah, you must just have a burr, but luckily, we machined flats into your adjustable post for a wrench (as I recall, 11mm), put a little petroleum based lube on the threads and with a 11mm wrench on the adjustable post, you should be able to work it back and forth until smooth. If not, let me know!

Hi David, I didn't have a wrench that fit, but I bought one earlier today. Unfortunately I'm not having any luck :(
