About having to press the button a bit harder. I had problems at first with my ELA and had to keep pressing hard so therefore kept stripping it down etc and usually getting really weak hits.

I was beginning to give up on it but noticed a mark on the bottom of the battery. So I eventually got to the bottom pin and found that it had tiny semi sharp protrusions which I presumed to be the Rhodium plating.

Not wanting to file it and lose all the plating I began tapping it with a hammer until flat. From then on it has hit a hundred times better and I never have to push hard on the button any more.

Not in any way saying that this is your problem but it is worth checking in my opinion. I went through 4 compression bands before I found this tiny little physical problem with such a huge impact.

Sounds exactly what Im getting, I can see the marks on my older batteries. Starting to get it on some of my newer ones. I know that my slippage is because I have to press so hard and it would make sense that spinning the button to right or left would affect its performance.

How did you hold your contact firm enough to hammer it flat. I dont have a vise and Id be afraid that I might not get it absolutely flat and make it worse. I can see that the edges are sharp and some areas stick up more. WHen did you get yours? I got mine in June, so it was one of the first ones.

I remember when I first got them the button usage was so smooth and buttery, now I have to press harder to real hard and I can feel it sort of crunchy. I have been feeling really depressed about the ELAs , especially the polished losing its performance. Im sure its a problem that is not common as I read all the posts and how great they perform and how no one else seems to have to clean and clean and fiddle. I was nervous about posting the problem as i thought it would cause a wave of rumors and panic.

If it was a problem with the ELA it would be happening to others. I see Cucco as an example of the common, she does not do much if any maintenance and if any and hers run great.

Have you tried it without a spring and seen how it works? Just make sure your button assembly is loose enough you can unscrew it quick if it got stuck on for some reason... Should give you an idea of if it's the spring or something else.

Your description of crunchy makes me think of the button or housing. The only times I've noticed that was when it was brand new and the button hadn't polished up from use, and when I put in an HD spring and it polished up some more from the extra spring tension pushing it against the housing harder I'm assuming. If you try the button assembly from the satin on the polished does it still feel the same?

Checked my post and it is smooth and level, though it does have a couple of shiny spots that look like they might have been worn down. Also have marks on the bottom of all my batteries.

The crunchy sound is from the spring, I swear I can hear the spring sort of shift around, probably from me pressing so hard. My button was perfection when I first had it. So smooth and I hardly had to use any pressure to fire it. I liked the throw as is. I will see what happens when I got the springs. I had to get the HD because they were out of the OEMs.

If that doesnt help, only thing I can think of is that I might have to send my button contacts to Super T and see what they think, if the edges are sharp and causing the problem, either they can fix them or exchange them for smoother ones? I love my ELAs and wont give up till they are performing as new.

Does anyone know? Did the OEM springs, ever go to 'in stock' today?

The website shows the HD springs in stock - but then when trying to order 'it says' out of stock. Anyone know if there actually sold out or maybe they didn't really get fully listed yet?

@Anavidfan I just held the button with my fingers on a bench with a thin cloth underneath a tapped until the sharp edges were gone.

I was desperate at the time and got to the stage where I would try anything.

It can be a little scary bringing up problems here. So I generally just keep quiet.

If the shopping cart says out of stock, then they're out of stock. The in/out of stock marker on the product page isn't always accurate, not updated in real time, but the shopping cart will see the actual quantities so is accurate (at least has been so far in my experience)

Don't be afraid to bring up problems. Bringing them here, straight to the source, is the best way to get them figgered out ;-)

Heck yes. I don't think I've ever had any mod by any maker that doesn't have some idiosynchratic thing going on that once you figure it out doesn't make the experience better.

I've had that crunchy spring problem on the ELA and P+. Every time, it's because the throw is too long and the button pin is barely making contact with the battery, thus you have to press until the spring is over-compressed. Try shortening the throw by either using a thinner oring in the bottom of the ELA or putting a washer in the button.

I noticed, Pris watched her wording this time, when she described my 'lack of maintenance' on my ELA. Somewhere else, on the internet, she announced to the world, basically, that I am a pig. :) I love you Pris! :)

All, My lock switch is in the lock position and I cant get it unlocked it wont move :( .. Any advice .. Also is there a video or can someone tell my how to take the entire switch apart? Thanks

I'd take the bottom off, unscrew the Rhodium contact and toss the rest of the bottom in the freezer for a while. Then I'd take it out, spray it down with some lubrication spray like CPL or Proline and you should be able to get it apart.

OH, Hush, you silly, Im only trying to convey my "envy" that most people are not going thru the bathing mine have to go thru. It started bi-weekly, then weekly and now daily because of my trying to figure it out. Its envy and admiration.

Even though we have never met, I would be shocked to find out that you were a "pig" not that there is anything wrong with untidy people, but you strike me as someone that is meticulous in organization in thought and personal life.

Now, me? depending on who you talk to, some might say Im a slob, and some might say im just disorganized, but clean. I like to think of myself as the later. Im always loosing stuff because Im very disorganized:) but clean

I'm just messing with you Pris. Your post, in the other place, made me smile. :)
