Check with your local jeweler. Rhodium plating is very common with jewelry... White gold in particular.

Unfortunately, it won't work, Rhodium Plating will not ahere to Brass, copper, aluminum etc. Brass first needs to be washed in a special acidic bath to remove contaminants then plated with a copper strike, then followed by a layer of gold plating, then by a mil spec rhodium plating. The reason rings can be Rhodium plated, is it is made of gold to begin with.

One could do it as a quick temporary fix, but jewelry rhodium plating is a cosmetic grade, not a mil spec grade (there are only 5 mil spec Rhodium platers in the entire USA, 3 of which don't even take on outside plating jobs) so beware that they aren't the same thing and won't hold up well nor adhere to brass well (and would cost about $25-$200 depending on the thickness).

To the OP, i wish we could do that for you, but it is cost prohibitive to do only a part.

Heres an article on Jewelry grade Rhodium plating: http://www.everything-wedding-rings.com/rhodium-plating.html

AW IMR's are up and in stock... at superT now, at a great price point too...

I'm gonna have to figure a system of dating my stock... I've been running about 8 or 9 for the last year; with some bought at different times... i know some are fudging out ...
I've tried marking them with perm. marker but that smudges... maybe a color coded sticker.

Same situation. Problem is I don't know what to do with that information anyway. How old is too old? How to properly rotate them when real life doesn't work that way? How to test their worthiness without consuming hours of time?

If you use a Sharpie, then you have to make sure that it dries properly or else it will smudge. But even then, the ink will eventually wear out. I use a pen that uses chemical resistant ink. I run a lab and my employees use these pens to mark our slides, which are exposed to some very harsh chemicals like formaldehyde. The only chemical that will remove the ink is xylene. Good luck trying to rub that ink off with your fingers.

Im sure this has been stated before, so forgive me, but what is the difference between the 18650 1600mah and the 18650 2000mah? The 400mah difference is obvious, but do they have the same c rating (discharge rate)? Are there any other differences? Also, same questions, but with 18490 vs. 18500.

Thanks guys, and pardon me if this is common knowledge, but I've always used 18350's, and now I'm wanting to make the move to 18650's.

Not sure about the official rating, but David's measurements showed that the 1600 mAh ones allow higher discharge rates

Use a VV device that can check battery voltage. Check what the voltage on a freshly charged battery is and voila

P.S. This will help you decide which batteries to throw away, it won't help you to date them
So what kind of number designates a battery which needs to be replaced?
