Somewhere out there
I have 60 nic in the freezer, I will dilute it to the level I need. I do alot of DIY and also buy some fav juices too. It is fun and really not hard. Just wear gloves and eye protection when diluting the higher nic levels. You can also just buy lower levels to start. I get all my DIY supplies from High Desert ecigs, great selections on flavors and great prices. Great customer service too! bnrk

If you are really paranoid that any part of your vaping experience can be banned and you drink the FDA's kool-aid, then here's three items of interest.

1. Rebuildable Atomizer
2. Mechanical mod like the Omega, Alpha, Icon, what have you.
3. 100mg Nicotine

3 Is if you don't plan on quitting nicotine, you may find that its easier to avoid the FDA's attempts at making your life miserable if you just ween off of it.

Of course, lets look at what the FDA would be able to touch. I think they would be able to regulate the legality of cartomizers and e-cig based products, and I believe they would be able to put restrictions on those devices like border laws against cartomizer, battery and atomizer importation.

So first things first would be to get a USA-made mod that uses batteries that aren't e-cig related, as a mechanical mod would allow this as well as nearly be impossible to break because there's hardly anything to go wrong.

Batteries we use are the same Batteries used in tactical flashlights and professional camera-gear. So as long as there's another purpose for them, there's no reason to ban them as they aren't directly connected to vaping.

Nicotine, Cartomizers and Atomizers are directly connected to vaping and they are things that the FDA can control and regulate via importation laws. Whether this means higher prices, a standard connection, or whatever have you, they'll regulate something. Your cartomizers may cost $1.50 each now and cost $5 each next year. They want a cut and they are showing it.

On the other side of the fence, Bongs aren't illegal and neither are Hookahs but they have two uses, tobacco and MJ. Even though MJ is outlawed, they still exist because and only exist because of tobacco. This is not the occasion with e-cigs. Everything we use is only used for vaping, so I'm not entirely sure they will be so hospitable.

So, make your decision. I'm not jumping the gun on anything because I have no idea how it will go down, only that something will. I'm also confident that the community here can easily loophole anything the FDA does. E-cigs and PV's are here to stay. We'll be sure of that even if it ends up us making our own homemade cartomizers and vaping out of fog-machines in our basement, we'll still be vaping. :toast:

I have to agree with almost everything you posted.
Except what I added bold to.
I have personally run across, in my quest for "cheaper" cartos and such, PVs that are almost exact clones of named PVs most of us own.
My husband has shown off a couple of my PVs that he has taken to work, and the younger guys tell him to be careful with them as they are used for other things.
So... my point.... if the powers that be want to regulate, they will find a way to regulate, across the board down to the PV you use if they are sold.

As to the original topic, I personally get my liquid from Wizard Labs and store in the fridge.
I have not tried freezing it, and I don't have knowledge on length of storage time where it would still be "safe" to use.

PG and VG I believe you can pick up at places like WalMart, food grade only, please be safe and read labels.
And there is information on those in the DIY threads.
There is also information on flavorings as well.

Has liquid nic been around long enough that there may be information somewhere on storage time?

There could be some truth to what you say on the devices. In terms of equipment, I think I have what I need at least for a small period of time and could, if necessary, figure out how to build an atomizer, cartomizer or similar.

I really do think the nicotine liquid is what they'll go after. That's the stuff they can convince the public with in a propaganda style way that it needs restrictions, needs taxing, what have you. All it's really going to take is one person out there, doing something nutty in a homemade e-liquid lab and a 60 minutes story and then we'll be up to our ears with do-gooder FDA types.

Nicotine base in particular is what I plan on hoarding while it's still pretty cheap and widely available.

Great post.

The vaporizers, and their related parts will never go away...because they're too easily made. Even if they are crude forms of the mods we have now. They may be a little harder to get, but definitely not impossible.

PG, VG, and flavorings will never go away...because they're non toxic and used for so many other things. They can not be banned, or even regulated any further than they are.

The nicotine is really the only thing the government can, and will eventually regulate to some degree. They can tax the crap out of it. They can regulate facilities that handle and sell it. They can make it practically inaccessible to the general consumer. Whether they will go to those lengths is the question.

I think the one thing that may help us, is vaping (thus far) is a perceivably healthier alternative for smokers. I haven't seen anyone take up vaping without having been a smoker previously. If it stays that way, the government may not get too involved. If it becomes a whole other recreational thing for kids to take up...then they make really try to put their foot down on it. Only time will tell.

I think the Nicotine is the main thing they will go after because it is the main source of our enjoyment and it is at the core of many vapers' experience. If nicotine became regulated it would effect all of us that aren't vaping 0nic. That's everyone with a rebuildable atomizer, everyone with a tank, everyone with every type of mod you can think of, we are all using nicotine extracted from tobacco unless the person in question is using 0nic juice.

It is the move that would effect the most of us and I think it would be the biggest consideration.

And to add to my statement about me myself and I not stocking up on nicotine, cartomizers or atomizers. We have no idea what the FDA will regulate. Even if it is the most likely thing on earth that it ends up being nicotine, you could end up buying a whole freezer's worth and they don't even end up regulating it but rather doing something pointless like regulate retail sales in which case HealthCabin would instantly get quite a bit busier.

The government has a long arduous line of not understanding things, and many people don't understand PV's and e-cigs, especially the government. They could ban their concept of "e-cigarette" and we could loophole it to death by not selling them altogether but separately. They could regulate the e-juice and avoid the nicotine altogether, and we could loophole it by making our own.

There's tons of end-results here, who knows.

All it means to me right now, is that I'm 1. going to keep an eye on legislation and 2. have enough nicotine based liquid to last the wife and myself a year. This is not a huge cost in my opinion. I've never done any DIY and probably never would have considered it, but i sense that this is going to be problematic. I figure I had better learn how to do this. I ordered supplies today and will begin experimentation.

The reason is really that the gas stations now, everywhere you turn are putting out cheapies for the general public to try. This is great from a health stand point, but it's also drawing government and regulatory attention. Attention from big tobacco and corporate interests. It all adds up to someone, somewhere with really big pockets is going to make things difficult.

I mean haven't you guys noticed the influx of newbs? I only started last year and there just weren't that many newbs here. They are out there, discovering this stuff at gas stations and then some of them are coming here. I'm happy they are, but it's a rising tide.

If you are really worried about the conspiracy theories why not just start your own plan to wean yourself off nicotine completely? Then you will be invulnerable and invincible when big brother strikes.

Agreed.

Reminds me of all the Mac enthusiasts who have already sold their 2008 & 2010 model Macs because Apple might announce a refresh to their product line next week.

Just because some of you aren't paying attention to the legislation news and proposals doesn't make this "conspiracy theory". These are proposed regulations and bills sponsors by U.S. senators that could be acted on relatively soon.

My guess:

They regulate bottled juices or limit flavors to tobacco and menthol.

They wont be able to stop people from purchasing experimental nicotine though, do the DIY population will take a steady rise. Just look at the steroid market. People can purchase SERMs or SARMs as experimental chemicals, and the FDA can't touch them at all. People would probably just need to educate themselves about making their own juice. Just a theory though.

If they regulate, I say we all form a giant vapor cloud outside the white house.

The FDA only wants ppl to use products that they have approved: patches, gum, inhaler, drops, hard "lozanges", etc cause they are in kahootz with the pharmaceuticals. There is nothing in it for them or the pharmaceuticals for ppl to use ecig. Also, it's not just the nicotine that's bad, but all the tar and toxins in cigarettes that are gumming up our lungs, which is worse than nicotine. None of the tar or toxins in the ecig. And without tar and toxins, there is no cancer. Without cancer, there are no chemotherapy drugs needed. With no drugs needed, the pharmaceuticals won't make any money. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory, but that is my opinion. Nicotine is probably the cause of tongue cancer, mouth cancer, gum cancer,.etc but then I'm sure most cig/ecig users are aware of that, or should be. It would behoove ecig users to take advantage of the 0 nicotine that ecig offer which is something you can't get from analogs.

If that is your opinion, it is an accurate one.

You can learn a lot more about who wants to take away our electronic cigarettes here...

Nicotine is probably the cause of tongue cancer, mouth cancer, gum cancer,.etc.
However that is most definitely not true.
Nicotine is not a carcinogen and has never been found to cause cancer of any kind.

It's maddening for me too as I *just* started vaping after 30yrs of smoking. Argh.

I hope at least a shred of common sense prevails, but I doubt it. This country is a Corporatist state, bought and sold. Money talks because they can buy the studies and the media.

It's like anything that could possibly be enjoyable for adults is going to be 'regged into the ground. Well, excepting booze. They won't be doing Prohibition again anytime soon methinks... ;)

Of course, the rich folks that support the regulations don't care as they can just have their personal assistants fly over to whatever country doesn't have the taxes for the goods.
