Sigh well I think I am pretty prepared now...

2 sigelei minis (33 bucks each and i figure they may actually last for a couple of years and if not, no worries because...)
2 provari 2.5 (special of the week) - figure these will last a few years for sure
1 hex ohm v2 for when i subohm on occasion. The build quality is obvious just looking at it so i figure i can get a few years out of that too.

2 kayfun lites
3 subtank minis and a year worth of 1.2 occ coils and 2 months of 0.5 ohm coils
Atlantis mini, no extra coils for that yet... Don't use it a lot right now

A coilmaster kit, wire, cotton buds.

About a years worth of premixed juice, going to get some fancy stuff this week (hhv, plume, alice in vapeland) so might end up with closer to 2 years once i'm done. I still really like this aspect of vaping so i figure i may as well enjoy it while i can.

Got a wee fridge freezer fir my den, ordered 2000ml of nude armor 36mg 100% PG. if i am understanding the math right, based on about 5ml a day...
2000ml 36mg split into 6mg is 6yrs roughly
Split into 3mg 13 years

Since 2000ml of 36mg makes 2000x6 of 6mg or 2000x12 at 3mg

Got 8 125 ml bottles and 4 250ml to minimize any oopsies etc. i wouldn't mind trying my hand at juice, though I want to get good at coils this coming week first :) feels good to have it as an insurance plan if nothing else!

Literally not prepared at all, too poor for that. ( About 5 people in my family vape. We all chip in and I make the juice/rebuild coils. )

But honestly, a ban or insane taxes will not really work out well. I live in a state that demands taxes for internet sales/purchases, and order from companies that operate in states that demand taxes for internet sales/purchases. 98% of what I buy online ( vaping and non vaping related) have no taxes anyways. Further, you'd be surprised what you can order and have shipped to your house that is banned in your state. You can literally order alcohol, tobacco, and several other things your state does not allow for shipping, and it will still arrive at your door. Don't even get me started on the things you can buy from Europe.

Either way, if they try to ban flavors, companies will simply sell you diluted unflavored nic base, that conveniently come with flavoring packs as promotional giveaways. Mech mods will suddenly become 510 flashlight cases. RDA's will become "wax and herbal aromatherapy devices" and so on. Batteries are already batteries. Kanthal is just wire. Cotton will never be regulated. Prebuilt coils and tanks will become decorative/art pieces similar to how water pipes are currently treated. Your local brick and mortar vape shop will sell you a liter/gallon of unflavored nic under the table and write it off as juice sales. Certain areas will especially be lax due to law enforcement vaping. I don't know about where you all live, but our local vape shop is frequented by police. If you go down there at around 5pm when many are getting off their shift, you can see 3-7 police officers sitting about still in uniform talking and vaping. Most do DIY juice too.

Regulation is only going to push it underground. It will make it more difficult, but not for anyone who knows how to use a computer. You'll have hidden forums and chat rooms dedicated and websites that specialize in it. It will still continue to grow. Meanwhile the overzealous regulation in some states, combined with continued research showing vaping's safety, will result in a Streisand Effect, creating more and more backlash. Literally every second that vaping is cracked down on only increases publicity.

Lastly, no serious regulation is going to get through unchallenged through the court system. The FDA has repeatedly ignored vapers, ignored evidence, stacked their expert panels, and so on. Anything too outrageous won't survive in court.

Things might get tougher guys, but be optimistic. Vaping isn't going anywhere, because there is nothing anyone can realistically do to stop it. They can make it difficult, sure, but they can't stop it. It may be an uphill battle for us, but it is an inevitable defeat for them.

Sorry for the wall of text, got carried away.

Well, if you're already diy'ing juice and coils you're pretty ahead of the game. Certainly ahead of me for now :)

My fear is that they regulate it enough so that only bt survives and it ends up being all mark tens and such junk. If the deeming goes ahead as is, sure china will probably still import isticks labelled as pot pourri aerosols, but what about provape/hexohm/buzzbox... I worry that the legit american folks making really good gear will just be put out of business.

I do see a real risk for flavors going, even if its not on day 1. The stunning hypocrisy given the number of flavoured vodkas on the market and the bud strawberry rita things boggles my mind, but still that whole question really seems to bring out the inner fascist in so many.

The big risk i see is that it gets tougher, current vapers continue but the new folks don't start... Smaller market, fewer stores... Slow death as many others on here have said more eloquently.

I sure hope i'm wrong. Who knows maybe now njoy are making tanks and flavors they'll have enough weight to kick a lot of this out in court.

In the meantime though I like having insurance.

As far as preparedness goes...over the years, I've had my share of unexpected life events; One medium sized house fire, 3 floods (burst pipes in winter, faulty washer hose, and a hurricane) and a ruptured heating oil tank--that was the worst because everything in the house that was "soft" had to be destroyed.

So, I'm not putting all of my eggs in one basket, so to speak. I have divided my "stash" in half. Half is stored here at home and the other half is at my daughters house. Each half, by my estimate, is enough to last me 10 years. Everything is stored in vacuume sealed bags with a few of those little silica packets. Many of the cheaper metals don't hold up so well over time when they are exposed to moisture or the salt air here. Even stainless steel will rust. I can still use a rusty, somewhat corroded hammer or bicycle, but a rusty clone RTA or dripper? No thanks!

All of this is just to say that I think being prepared for the worst case future of vaping scenario, to me, means more than just having enough stuff. It's also about taking into consideration personal, unexpected worst case scenarios.

Having stuff is a good start but preparedness is being able to do stuff...
and barter with folks that have but can't do...
DIY, build an RDA deck, make a mod...

I can DIY good ejuice. These days that saves me $$ and helps my friends.
Someday it might be worth a mod and atty on the black market...

I think you are absolutely right Mowgli and very well put too!:thumb:
I have neither the skills or equipment to make mods or RDA's but I can make good juice and I have 4 times the nic that I think I would need for personal consumption.
Bartering has been a way of life for me. It's how I've met some of my closest friends! If things go terribly bad with regulations, I'm looking forward to making even more friends!;)

plenty of mech mod.. plenty of rdas and rtas.. enough wire and japanese cotton.. plenty of batteries.. i'm vaping 3 mg nic from 6. will be down to 0 mg soon.. i don't see much of a problem. found out rather quickly, nic isn't really all that addicting. it's my hand to mouth thing that's getting me from quitting the whole thing. the g men can go copulate themselves. when human waste products start to hit the ventilating units.. they can come bite my shiny metal mods.

It would be nice to have the option of splitting my stash between here and another location but I just don't have that available easily, other than paying for a storage unit which will easily make the vaping go a few hundred a year over what smoking was. At least for all the prep, I've still spent 500 less over april 2015 through may 2016. And barring something really nasty, I should be set for a lot longer.

Been wanting to start storing, came across this thread. I've also been wanting to start DIY'ing juice, that's the only ..... in my armor right now, everything else I'm good on. I've known that pg/vg is cheap, but some of the prices on nicotine solution I've seen on this thread are amazing. Where are you guys getting the nic from? I've seen Wizard Labs, looked interesting but I wanted to go to the DIY section here on ECF 1st and ask around before I buy. But came here 1st.... are there certain companies that are better than others?

Would a fire proof gun safe work for you? Used ones can be quite reasonable. Buy once, cry once. Not like the never ending storage unit fees!

There's a wonderful thread on the forum started by Cyrus Vap called "nicotine comparisons", (if I remember correctly). It is old and very long and therefore some of the earlier information about suppliers and sources is outdated. So you may want to start reading with posts from the past 6 months or so rather than at the beginning!
The enthusiasts who post in there are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I suggest you just jump in with your questions!

I have personally purchased from Wizard Labs and had no problems but for the past 8 months or so I have really enjoyed nic from Vapers Tec!

If you are planning on "stocking up", you may want to consider getting smaller amounts of nic from a handful of suppliers to try out and see which one you like best, rather than buying in bulk in the beginning. Good Luck AntC!

I DIY and make juice for me and my mother. I have been stocking Nic and freezing it because I believe if worse comes to worse and you can't get anymore that my mother would go back to smoking. I can't imagine me going back. Been 3 years and have no desire. But I want to make sure that I have enough to keep my mother in it. She is older and I know I have enough to keep her suppled for the rest of her life.

I'm not stockpiling yet. Pennsylvania is a Commonwealth not a state and most of us consider it to be a "free state." People from nearby NJ and NY are viewed as subjects of their governments because they silently accept the whims of their elected overlords. Most of PA is rural and we can still carry guns openly without any special government permission needed. I don't think they could get any sort of total ban passed here. The populace is still very suspicious of any government overreach. The general assembly would be voted out of office at the next election and they know that.

I recently ordered some more nic base. I realized that I should determine how long my supply will last. With my latest addition to my stash, I now have about two liters of 50mG/ml base. I'm currently vaping about 10ml per week of 18mg/ml juice. I should have nearly an 11 year supply!

Even though I'm probably already pushing the limits on it's storage life, I'll probably buy another liter or two.

Right now E-cigs are just insanely inexpensive when compared to cigarettes. So far I've spent about $350 for e-cig supplies. E-juice, batteries, coils, clearomizers etc. Divide that by 11 years and you have a cost of about $32 per year! Less than one carton of cigarettes!

Once the FDA regulations go into effect you can be sure that it's going to get far more expensive. I expect that bulk juice won't be available. You'll be stuck with some type of pre-filled cartridges or cigalikes.

all this hysteria comes up about vaping, which is possibly the most benign chemical someone could enjoy (probably better for you than caffeine) and has given millions a way of breaking free from a habit that is far worse... you think the world is getting somewhere, but then something new comes out and the same old ignorance and fear rears its ugly head all over again, which is in turn milked by our politicians and backed by big tobacco, it all seems to be coming together for a perfect storm and it's not looking good in Oregon.
Actually it's more like created fear through applied propagada by Big Tobacco and Big Pharma to support politicians in the banning of Ecigs so all can keep the money flowing. States continue to collect funds from Big Tobacco and can continue to collect sin tax, Big Tobacco gets to take over the Ecig industry, Big Pharma gets to continue to sells drugs that do not work to quit smoking since Big Tobacco will also be selling Ecigs that do not work to quit smoking. People will continue to smoke, 46 out of 50 states will collect their money from Big Tobacco, and the Sin Tax will be flowing. What incentive do they have to support our cause. Our lives? Yeah, right.......
