Putting Claymore mines on your Christmas wish list is not acceptable, BTW
That depends on who's Christmas list your.putting that on, mine my cousins, and many of my redneck friends, that would be totally acceptable, hell even expected

Scored a 99 and was chased mercilessly by an Army recruiter. Told me I was too fat to join any other branch. I told him where to stick his opinions and didn't join.
Spent two years in AFROTC. Got back from summer training and realized I really didn't want a military career as a missileer, so I turned down the commission and got out. My son now is toying with the idea of joining the Army or Marines and trying to get into armor. He's going to finish up JC next semester and I'm trying to get him to either join the reserves so he can see if a military career is really what he wants or finish him bachelor's first so at least he gets the opportunity to go in as an officer.

My sister joined the Army as a nurse right out of college, made it to 1st lieutenant and then resigned her commission when she started having kids. Over 20 years later, she still works for them as a civilian nurse. Her husband is a doctor at Walter Reed, just made colonel a couple of years ago and will be retiring pretty soon.

Small world!! Hubby was stationed at Ft Lewis :)

I grew up east of Seattle on Mercer Island, and often drove down through Ft. Lewis, sometimes coming and going from being out on the Penninsula (to girl scout camp and later many hikes through the Oly. Nat'l Park. back packing!)

I updated my avatar (grin) - this picture was taken recently bringing it up to date. I lovingly call it my "charm bracelet", collected the last 15 yrs on our travels.... it's now almost 12 ft long and holds 308 charms, I made the byzantine sterling silver chain the charms hang from as well. Folks ask me how do I ever wear it? I say, "wrapped twice over my head with 1/2 hanging in the back and 1/2 hanging in the front, so I can still stand up straight". I've added each years charms to help me remember the different trips (2001, 2002, 2003, etc.). I've yet to find a good charm for quiting smoking or vaping, but it's on my list to find.
