Probably already answered somewhere, but what does a Provari do that a LavaTube doesn't?

Its not the dual part, but the resistance due to the 2.5 amp limit. If you can find 2.5 ohm DCC. they will do 6.0 volts.
as I see it:
Provari Better regulation, and control, but more $$$
LT less $$$, and still would be way better than a non VV mod....

Yep, I've run my 2.5 DC @ 6V, and I have a few 2 ohms that test out at ~2.1 that run at ~5.2V as well (on the Provari). So yes, I would add 'run a DC carto @ 6V' as something Provari can do that LT can not. That, and the Provari will still be working in a year..

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this here but the Provari V2 is coming out that can push 3.5 amps! It shouldn't have any problem running DCC's or LR atomizers anymore.

Also the voltage on the LT will drop as the battery discharges. The Provari holds the exact same voltage that I set it at until the battery is fully discharged.

I also have both a Provari and a LT. My experience with the LT has been "ok"... no button sticking or ungluing, but I still prefer my Provari for my daily vaping. The LT is for my 2nd flavor / backup.

That said, using a battery like an AW IMR 18650, should provide a better voltage drop curve than cheaper batteries.
I saw a chart comparing the loaded voltage of various batteries over time as remaining capacity decreases and IIRC, the line for the AW IMR 18650 was much straighter across than all the others.

I started my VV journey with a LT, but I dropped it and the battery cap broke off. No prob, I just glued it back on. I decided to spoil myself on my "2 month off analogs" and ordered a Provari. IronIcally, I dropped my LT on my way to the mailbox. The top cap came off, along with the 510 connector. As luck would have it, my Provari was in the mailbox. I contacted Volcano via email, and they said my LT would not be covered under warranty. I resoldered the 510, and epoxied the top cap back on. When I hold them both, one feels like a toy, while the other feels like a weapon. I have dropped my Provari many times, leaving a small crater on the ground. I wish I bought the Provari first, then I would have an extra $70 to buy some tasty juices

I bought another provari and it came in today (version 2), just to see if the thoughts I had about it before when I used to own one were the same. I have been using the "lavatubes" since volcano introduced it. I currently have the large from volcano and 2 mini's from other vendors, and to be honest, I like the mini "lavatube" the best. I tested the provari against the LT and up to 4.5volts they act the same, the provari shines above 4.5 volts. For me, I never go above 4.5 volts, ~4volts is my sweet spot, and the LT does that very well (3.99vdc) under load. The mini is smaller than the other two, and lighter, and for me that means a lot. The provari is what it is, it is a nice device, but it is a heavy one, and for someone that is not going to use it above 4.5v, I would recommend the mini LT or reg LT if you dont mind the size. Think about it, you could have (3) mini LT's (maybe 4) for the price of the provari. I will probably end up selling this provari in the classifieds before long, I just can't see me using it for much.
Just my opinion, nothing more.

Ok, not to get into a big debate, the only thing LT and Provari have in common is they are both VV.

Provari is a BMW or a Benz. The LT is a Toyota or a Honda.

The LT was created to give you a good introductory device that is VV. many people would not invest into a VV because of the cost. Now many have and probably will now spend more!

As for the LT as plastic, this is not true, it is ALUMINUM. Now that being said there is a plastic cap that is fixed over the alum battery end cap, and the top connector cap is plastic. I will say I wish both were made of alum fully.

As for made in the USA, I am willing to bet some of the parts in the Provari are also made in China like the connectors and circuit board. Now I could be wrong tho.

I would love to see more USA manufactures and would support them.

So keep in mind the LT is just an introductory model and for such it performs well.

Nope not employed by Volcano or the chinese manufacture. And am currently unemployed.

Besides that, I would rather see people buy the Provari as I do live in Washington where they are made.

As for my strict loyalty to Volcano, that went out the window when I got my LT, it ruined me for normal vaping! Anything less than VV or HV does not seem like vaping.

My Power VV Grip by Sweet Vapes is on order. When the GGTS and GG Odysseus come back in, they will be ordered next. Then a Provari, GLV, etc.

Again, I totally get how you and others feel about the LT. All I was stating was it is what it is, an introductory, lower priced VV.

I do like Volcano in that they helped me to quit smoking after 25 years, and for that I am hugely grateful!!!!

Havnt got my Provari yet, My Lava lasted 2 1/2wks probably going to take that long for the Provari to get shipped.

The plastic endcap on the Lava is probably a blowout plug designed by the Chinese incase of battery runaway I hear there innovative.

I understand the button pushing on the Provari is easy to learn but whats with the 5-7-9 whatever, What is 2-4-6 being used for? or 3-5-7 for that matter?

Now if I could find something like the Buzzpro that used a 18650 battery and VV from 3-5
Or a Silver Bullet with a manual wheel VV from 3-5V
Or a reliable Lavatube
Or a Provari that more easily adjustable for dialing in the Vs

@ rem700, I agree with you on the button pushes, but it is easy to use. I think they should add one button for the menu and the regular button for firing.
