Hi,

One problem: the 18650 batteries I use in the GGTSV1 can't go in the GGTSV2 ...
They block at the part above the telescope (the one before the collector tank).
I'm not the only one to have this worry, some friends in France got the same problem: this part seems to be narrower than the V1 ...

Some of you also noticed this problem?

Imeo, what can we do? Possible to have an other part like on the V1?

Thank's
Romain

Romain,
Yeah, 18650 were always a problem....Well, NOT ALL of them, but certain brands....And now that the center telescope part has a thinker wall...it may be even smaller....

So, what 18650 brand are people fitting in? Anyone try there 18650? What brand are you getting to fit inside the GGTS v2?

I am betting you will have to change your battery brand to one that fits, Romain.

I've been meaning to start a thread on this. I've always thought the GGTS could to any battery combination, so I bought some protected Trustfire 18650 batteries before I ordered my GGTSv2.

As I attempted to put the batteries in the GG, it resisted at the top tube of the GGTS. The battery was touching the sides ever so slightly at 2 points. I applied a very small amount of pressure and the battery went into the tube. After taking the battery back out there was no visible damage done. The battery doesn't seem to "scrape" the sides, it just slides along them. It had me concerned at first but I proceeded to cape with the 18650 in there. I've been using that same battery for 48 hours and I still have my face, so...

Should I discontinue using this battery? Is it a hazard?

Using Trustfire 2400 Mah. Its really tight. In fact, if I remove the bottom cap where the battery spring / fuse is, I can shake the unit and the battery still wont come out.

Not a bad thing in my mind, this allows me to remove the end cap without tipping the unit (so the battery doesnt come out after I remove the end cap). Then, I can just grab the bottom of the battery and give a very slight twist to loosen the battery and then pull it out.

Hi,

Ok, so I do not think it is possible to do by hand, and certainly not in 1 minute ...
I used the tool sandpaper on my Dremel and sanded for more than 10 minutes the part: now all my 18650 fit without forcing (And within, it is not very pretty to see, but it works now.) The threads seem not to be endomaged by this work when I screw this part on the telescope and the collector tank.

Note the fuse adds 0.1 - 0.2 ohms to the circuit (as I measured).
(sorry don't have very precise multimeter so can only say 0.1 - 0.2)

Yes, thats true Booker my friend. We have mention this before but nice to remind it again. Yes, its a loss but also protection too that is more important. At least we have a loss for a serious reason:)

10 mins with dremmel???????

Romain, this is crazy buddy. We dont need this. We just want a little sanding, thats all. Not all batteries will fit but those that were fitting on the previous model

I try first with sand paper by hand, and batteries do not fit...
So, as I wouldn't do this work for a long time, I try with my Dremel, but I haven't a very thin sand paper for Dremel, and I try to fit the batteries after 2 minutes: do not fit... After 5 minutes sanding: do not fit... After 7 minutes: they fit but with forcing a little... After 10 minutes: they fit easily, then I stop.

After that, I sand it by hand with a thin sand paper (600) for polishing and removing traces of sanding, but the internal of the piece is not pretty to look, full of scratches are still visible, it is not polished as it was like new...

Of course, I try this with some batteries I use on the previous model, my 2 GGTS V1...

I must admit that I am a little disappointed with the result when I look inside my gg now
