Problem with 18650 on GGTSV2

I try first with sand paper by hand, and batteries do not fit...
So, as I wouldn't do this work for a long time, I try with my Dremel, but I haven't a very thin sand paper for Dremel, and I try to fit the batteries after 2 minutes: do not fit... After 5 minutes sanding: do not fit... After 7 minutes: they fit but with forcing a little... After 10 minutes: they fit easily, then I stop.

After that, I sand it by hand with a thin sand paper (600) for polishing and removing traces of sanding, but the internal of the piece is not pretty to look, full of scratches are still visible, it is not polished as it was like new...

Of course, I try this with some batteries I use on the previous model, my 2 GGTS V1...


I must admit that I am a little disappointed with the result when I look inside my gg now

I just meassured 10 tubes buddy and they are all at 18,54mm. Do you have an elecronic meassument tool? If not then it is just a false tube, not a problem, I can send you a new one. haha easy fix !

Please dont get disapointed for those easy things Romain. I am also not a machine and I have the right to make a very small mistake to a tube, yes?

Yeah, 18650 were always a problem....Well, NOT ALL of them, but certain brands....And now that the center telescope part has a thinker wall...it may be even smaller....

So, what 18650 brand are people fitting in? Anyone try there 18650? What brand are you getting to fit inside the GGTS v2?

I am betting you will have to change your battery brand to one that fits, Romain.

Hi,

This wasn't a problem with my batteries, but really with a part of the tube with a piece a little too thin to fit 18650.

Remember that my batteries were fitting very easy in my 2 previous GGTS V1.

A friend on a French Forum,has got the same problem, and 2 others friend hasn't got this problem
This is not an issue on all GGTSV2, only a few, and I hope for imeo only on those 2 in France and the BubbleBobble one

This problem is away and solved now, thank's again imeo to send us a new part

Are we sure it's our GGTS, and not the batteries? The bigger batteries seem to vary in circumference ever so slightly. The protected ones aren't perfectly round, because they have that strip running down the side.

I don't know, if my GGTS is just a tiny bit smaller, or if the two batteries I got happen to be a bit bigger then the majority of 18650's.

After more "inspecting" I've found that it's only the "bottom" of the 18650 that slides along the GG as it's being inserted. Once the bottom of the battery reaches the last tube (with engravings) it falls down into the unit. So, when inserting batt from the top of GGTS, the bottom of the battery is touching the telescoping tube, and top tube on the way down.

If I really want to be careful, I can insert a 18650 into the bottom part of the GGTS first, and then add on the telescoping and top tubes. If I do it this way, nothing has to "brush" against anything.

I'm also curious if anyone else has tried the 18650 I'm using. They are "Protected TrustFire 18650 2400mAh". I wouldn't be surprised if for some reason, these two particular batteries of mine are slightly bigger at the base.

Anyways, thanks a ton for that offer Imeo, I truly appreciate it. Hopefully it won't be necessary.

seriously consider grabbing the AW18650 batteries pictured in booker's post....cheapest on lighthound.com, and they're the best for our purposes. the trustfire's aren't accurate with mAh ratings or measurements...some shorter, some taller, wider, etc. it may be that you'll get another two or three trustfires that do fit, and then another two or three that don't. while there are minor variations to be expected with any battery, by and large the aw brand is spot on, and the best possible battery (for our uses) to boot. give them a shot before you send anything back, if for some reason they still don't fit, those are the batteries you'll want to be using when you get your tubes back.

I should say that I had problem with 18650 protected batteries from Trustfire .. I have the old GGTS and the battery would not fit properly in the telescopic tube (only with some pressure) ... The GGTS was power on well but after 3 or 4 efforts, to take out the battery of the tube, then the battery scratched and I had a short-circuit inside the tube .. So the lesson is that it is not worth to try to use such a battery with the danger of short-circuit!!

they cant go inside only from the extension Nandy my friend? They fit on on the telescope? If yes then try to disasemble the extension tube and put the battery in it. See when it stops and then sand it a little. I think that battery stucks only on the lips of the external threads. Its not a serious problem but sometimes the machining proccess leaves some "teeths" around the end of the tube. Please sand it a little where I told you and check again
