Basically, the verification process verifies that you are who you say you are.
Classifieds are hidden until one becomes Verified. Things for sale cannot be discussed outside of that section. This protects the buyer and the seller from unscrupulous people that want to scam members.

There have been incidences in the past and the system was put into place because of such things happening. Before my time so not sure what it is all based on.

You clearly have forgotten your CT geography. I live in STAMFORD. We're the bad guys planted in between Greenwich, Darien & New Canaan. If we cross city lines, to any of the three, alarms go off.

Did I ever! Didn't you wish that show would just go off the air?! My middle name is a family name; it's also sometimes a man's name. The combination of first and middle names made for some interesting "conversations." One might also have referred to those conversations as altercations . Women's colleges were none too pleased at the thought of a male seeking admission. And judges didn't like it when they believed they were being mocked. I was meant to be called "Sally." It was a loooong time before I forgave my parents the last minute change of heart!

I always wanted my middle name to be my first name.

This must have changed. Back when we were in the ProVari forum we were told that posting a heads ups was okay, as long as that was all that was posted. When you think about it, the rational of not being able to post it wouldn't be much different than the fear of posting a vendor's sale and having someone without a credit card asking a member to buy something for them.
