Ping, since you're so PROUD of the Republican party, I just can't NOT stir the pot. YOUR party voted pretty unanimously against common sense legislation proposed this week against any form of gun control. People who are on terrorist watch lists can remain free to buy guns as they please. How proud the party must be.

Here's a link to one article about the shamefullness:

All 4 pieces of gun-control legislation proposed in wake of Orlando attack just failed in the Senate
Good! They don't want common sense legislation, they want to take away that freedom incrementally. That is why the NRA fights so hard to protect our constitutional freedom. And it is a wise one at that. Nothing good has come historically from nations that were hell bent on disarming their citizens.

I'm mad at the shooter and what he represents ... I'm sad for the victims that may have died by bleeding out during the 2 hours they lay terrorized inside that nightclub.

I'm still confused on how we were not able to do more for them after the attack started.

OK......I give up.

Rod will be out of the house for some time.

Health and Happiness to you all.

No reason to leave RB. The Democrats you support are doing their best to take our right to vape. They made succeed with us vapers but they are not going to take away our guns. When Obama and Clinton blame the NRA for Orlando and not the Islamic state terrorists there's a big problem in Washington. Obama can't even say Islamic terrorism. Shame on him.

I don't think anybody will change their opinion on the gun issue but I wanted to share this.

My Dad, a Korean War veteran and now 84, still does very well at the range with most all his weapons. (The 10 gauge is just too much now) He discontinued his NRA membership about 15 years ago, explaining that it had become just a lobbying front for the gun manufacturers. Although he received honors for helping a fellow serviceman who died in his arms, he cannot stomach the push to keep assault weapons on the market.

He came home from Korea to the McCarthy era in America and we've talked about how the irrational fear then is much like post 9-11 fear that has been used to manipulate public opinion. He dropped out of high school then went back for his GED and is in disbelief that so many well educated Americans can't see how they are being used for profit.

He reminds me every time there is a mass killing that they also result in even more gun sales. He just shakes his head.

Oh, c'mon. Don't pick up your marbles and go home. :grr: You are certainly welcomed to your opinion as I hope everyone is. I know there are a awful lot of people in here who love and respect you.

I just want to point out a couple of things, well maybe just one... Ok, two.

You know it was the NRA that came up with the idea of INSTANT background checks in the first place? Yep. Well guess what started to happen? The government started keeping the records when there were supposed not be any so now they can't go along with it. Give 'em a inch...

If there was a way to keep Americans off the, "No buy list" that are not supposed to be there, they'd go along with it.

This will be my last post for a while. So, I thought I'd try to better splain myself.

Yes, I removed my avatar. I'm really going off grid for a while.

Why?

For me, the massacre was simply so close, so personal. And while I know I can't expect anyone to change their views on gun control, I also can't bear (even though I contributed to it) the discussion against gun control. Oh, I spect this topic will wind down, like the election (God how I wish the election was over). At least until the next massacre. I could have been at that club. Your children could have been at Columbine, or Sandy Hook. I wonder how many here would still support the NRA and no new gun laws if a mass shooting hit you so close to your home, your life, your loved ones, people like you who were singled out to be murdered, just because of who they love?

Given that I have a lot on my plate right now. I just think it's best for my personal sanity to take my leave for a while.

I doubt I'll leave permanently. You all do mean a lot to me. So let's just get past this and when I'm feeling ready, I'll be back.

Take some time SR, we all know how close this was to you ... you have every right to be shaken by this.

Don't think we all here do not experience deep feelings about the massive loss of innocent life.

Maybe there are better ways of stopping these attacks beforehand ... one common theme in these Extremists Islamic attacks ... they all are known to have red flags beforehand.

Maybe we need to get better at managing the red flags.

You mean like maybe not selling automatic assault rifles to peeps on the watch list.
See, that's the thing... knee jerk reaction by people who believe everything the media tells them (and yet these same people wonder why the general public is ant-vaping), AUTOMATICS have been illegal since 1986

Now, I'm the one that's getting ...... and has said enough.

TIME OUT.

Please? I realize everyone is heated, and with good reason. Might we just put this on hold? For just a little bitsy bit?

Today is very special day, and tho I realize I'm usurping the time, and temporarily disregarding the topic at hand, welp, I am. So there. :p

You'll be missed. I've 100% compassion, there are times everyone needs a emotional, spiritual, political, and intellectual rest.
I dearly hope you wont take this as callous, but if you can muster up the mindset, I heartily recommend a Laugh Rx. No disrespect. Mourning to most seems a dichotomy to laughter. I believe when someone graduates this life (even involuntarily)we can find cause to celebrate the life, the lives. IN that spirit, please take care and find laughter to heal.
See you soon, OK?

I posted this back in April about an article on Furries.

I read that article when it was originally published. It was life changing. It had never occurred to me that a fetish could be for anything. Do you realize there are people out in the world who get aroused by luggage?

I think I have found something more disturbing. This is just a clip from a documentary:

ETA: The clip is just about one guy, there are others in the full documentary (the link is on the youtube page).

Ok. Sorry I kinda, sorta started to go off. You took it pretty good. I really don't mind a difference (how could I?) of opinion as long as someone knows what they are talking about. Heck, my mind even gets changed from time to time so I actually welcome it, sometimes giving me a different way of looking at something. If everybody thought the same way, this would be a pretty scary place to live. Then again, no one would care because everybody would like it...because they all thought the same...

The whole "assault" rifle thing I tend to leave alone as there is a difference of opinion on the definition and I really don't feel like getting into it, believe it or not. I'll just say this and then go watch Garfield on Netflix while eating leftover steak. There's a sign on the range at my gun club that says, "NO ASSAULT RIFLES OF ANY KIND!" I just looked at my Dad and Jackie and said, "Good thing my AR-15 is not a assault rifle."

Good night.
