OK, here is a question I have asked in other places but never got an answer. Since this is Provari "chat" with others allowed, I will ask.

I have a couple of "other" brand mechs. They have a very unique switch that squeaks after cleaning and it worries me as I can see marks around the parts that move. I worry that I might be wearing things so I bought some Nyogel 760G. ( maybe the number is wrong, its a dielectric silicone gel) Ive never had the need for any grease for threads before, but...

I know it can be used on all parts especially threads, but can it touch the places where it makes contact with the battery. I just want to make sure it dont cause an unwanted "occurrence" to add to all the anti-mech , anti vape news.

I just took apart another one of my mechs, switch was a bit rough, it has a series of ball bearings and took them all out, cleaned and lubed. WHat a job, thank god I have a good lighted magnifying lamp. Kitty was napping so she did not attempt to help me with all the micro ball bearings.

I highly recommend No-Ox-Id for all things electric which need lubed :D

LOL, There was a big discussion somewhere over which grease was best for MODs, it was too heated so I stopped looking at it.

There were people that were electricians, Flash light makers and designers, it got all too technical for me. My dad had one of the 2 that were highly recomended, which was Ni-ox-Id and the Nyogel. Both had the same amount of great reviews and and seemed to be similar in chemical ingredients.

BUT again, no one answered if it is safe for the Nyogel to be anywhere near the positive posts or neg posts and to get on the batteries. I dont want archs, or hot buttons, etc or cause a fire. :)

That'sfunny, because I have read similar debates previously and in different venues, and my dad's old standby was ...Vaselene...yup say it slow like you really mean it...Vaseleeeeeen. Used it on battery terminals and other connections for years. Threads for aluminum Maglights...Vaseleen...nevar had a problem, it keeps out moisture, and retars oxidation. Too simple, easy and cheap to be true? I've used it on ProVari's too :)

Vaseleeeeeeen !

It's one of the serving bowls that goes with my china. I gave up serving a long time ago. The dogs used to have one, but I had to fill too often. They now each have their own bucket.

Pets are better than guests any day of the week in my book, if you ask me, there isn't china that is fine enough for pets :)

Thank you so much, so just to be safe , if it gets on battery , it OK? Or on lets say the 510 positive pin , like on a GP G-pin? I was worried because if its conductive it might not be a good thing.

Im a bit dense so , I have to double check what I think I understand:)

Just did some googling, and made a mistake... Dielectric grease is NOT conductive so I guess if I accidentally get it on my positive pins, I dont have to worry.

Its really adhesive to skin. I thought I wiped it off and I can still feel it on my fingers. I thought I had touched my positive pin that makes direct contact to battery and was scared to use it, I cleaned it with acetone just to be sure. I guess I worry too much.

It's fine... I personally use No-Ox-ID, but Nyogel is ok as well. It's ok on your battery terminals. I avoid Noalox on everything but aluminum.

Thanks Mr Zen, I feel better now. I like things made to last and I really love cleaning my vape gear, as well as other stainless steel things like revolvers, vintage kaleidoscopes, and sterling silver and brass trinkets.

I use "Ox-Guard." It might be a Do-it-Best store brand? Basically the same thing as nooxide, a little goes a long way. Threads and all contact points get some, including the ends of springs, especially if they are in an enclosed switch.

On an unrelated note, I've given up on magnetic switches. As a welder, they just collect too much metal dust. The single exception is the Dominus Fecit. It has a truly unique single magnet side-fire switch, and it's easy to clean.

I also do not like magnetic switches. For one they are a bit hard for me to press. I have real bad hands so for me its stiff.

Second like you said, they get dirty fast. I guess its what led to a hot switch. Only device I have ever had that problem other than something not being put together correctly. I kept checking all the usual suspects. Cleaned checked my build, changed my coil, checked again. Id clean the switch and it would be fine for an hour or so, then again it would heat up. Found the springs they came with the MOD and no more hot buttons and so much smoother.

Guess I lied, I did have a problematic ELA, but nothing helped keep that beautiful lemon performing well.
