I'm good without the wall if they take down the new higher wall Obama had built around the white house. It's the same thing about gun control. Those who want to end it travel around with armed guards, and live in secured homes.

Let's go Leafs!

And all those politicians that wanted busing sent their kids to private schools.

Wondering how Rod is weathering the storm in Tampa. Has anyone heard from him?

Thanks for thinking of me. We've had lot's of rain, but not so much wind. Some street flooding, but overall, we came out of this very well. Only lost electricity for about an hour.

They say the holiday weekend should be good, so have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Ps: 10% off at the Mothership this weekend. LB10 is the code, I think.

I wrote my congresswoman a few months back and asked in no uncertain terms how she would vote on HR 2058 should it come to the floor. Fast foward a few months till today and here is her response

September 2, 2016

Dear Mr. Jim Dash,

Thank you for writing to me in support of vaporizers and electronic cigarettes. I appreciate hearing from you, and welcome this opportunity to respond.

Congress granted the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the authority to regulate tobacco products in 2009. The FDA is now acting on this authority and has issued new standards for cigarette labels and advertising warnings. H.R. 2058, the FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2015, would revise the pre-market review and reporting requirements for certain tobacco products like vaporizers and electronic cigarettes. Additionally, a new tobacco product would not be subject to premarket review by the FDA if it is introduced to the market before the FDA classifies it a tobacco product. Supporters of this bill believe that it will allow newer products like electronic cigarettes and vaporizers to be made more readily available to consumers, and thus decrease the impact of regular cigarettes in our society. H.R. 2058 currently awaits further action in the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

I appreciate hearing from you on this issue and you can be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should this bill reach the House Floor for a vote.

Again, thank you for contacting me on this important issue. Democracy works best when we stay in touch, so I invite you to visit chu.house.gov and sign-up for e-mail updates at chu.house.gov/signup. And get late-breaking news at facebook.com/repjudychu and twitter.com/repjudychu.

I am honored to serve you, so please never hesitate to call or write in the future.

This response says nothing in a particularly long-winded manner :(

I disagree. That was a nice response. It was neutral, but also encouraged communication. No stance at this point is much better than ANTZ responses.

Others in her district should communicate to her on this issue.:)

My State of California representative ignored the vaping subject completely and simply put me on her e-mailing list. o_O I don't have to look up her voting record to know she voted for the several pieces of vaping and smoking controls that were passed earlier this year in my state.

Both of my Senators spit out nearly identical prepared rants against vaping. I've received the same response a few times.

For a very liberal Cali-Congresswoman who's voting record to date has been the very definition of wealth redistribution, it was much more polite than I expected. Even so, the image of a pig wearing lipstick comes to mind.

What party she belongs to will give you a pretty good indication on how she will vote.

I'm a registered independent with Libertarian tendencies. I give each side of the isle the opportunity to do right by me before I pick a side.

Anyone who votes this year in Cali won't have to be concerned much with parties when it comes to the US Senate Race. Both on the ticket for Ms. Boxer's seat are well known Democrats.

I think some call that fair?

Beware of supporting "open primary" systems even when they have fancy names like "top-two primary system".

You are probably right, Ping.

I would have liked for the people of Cali to have more ideological choice like we've had in the past, despite the expected outcome.

The 2 party system does have it's problems and perhaps a 3, 4 or 5 party system might be better that just 2 strong parties, but do we really only want one party?

I'd feel the same if the "top two" were Republican, Libertarian, Green, Independent, Peace and Freedom or DogCatcherParty.

However,

Much more fun is that there are less than 30 GMZ Classics left! With the flat P3 top and extension ring as part of the deal, $58.50, with LD10 discount, is a very tempting.

I've sent similar emails to politicians and received similar answers. I've also received answers saying they "appreciate" my getting in touch but they believe they know better (not their wording.)
I meant to go on here and discuss direct vs. representative democracies...
But, my heart's not in it. Just fed up.
