So, say someone wasn't paying attention whilst removing a KFL+, and managed to remove the entire P3 top on a Classic V2...  , but put it all back together, and all seems well.

...no harm, no foul?

From what I recall, Lori, you should be fine. It was a semi-common occurrence, in fact, and may happen again. Someone posted an explanation of why they fuse together sometimes, but I don't recall anyone not being able to get it working again once they separated the cap from the tank.

My learning from those posts was to not screw anything down too tightly on the P3 threaded devices. I've not had any issues with mine.

So worry not... :)

You might want to open a ticket and get it looked at. One of my Ti ProVari's had a top cap assembly that wasn't very snug, it could be walked out and off with just a little pressure, sent it in and got it back nice and tight.

Or that. ;)

E has MUCH more experience than I do with these caps, so I'd follow his recommendation over mine. It's very little effort to open a ticket, after all.

The way I read it, the whole assembly came off, maybe it was just the ring??? @LoriP1702

Just the two-piece ring/vanity top. Not the "fixed" top. Just the ? hybrid top exposed.
The top of the actual mod didn't come apart.
I was just coming back to post that, as I was thinking I should have been more specific as to not overstate what actually happened.
Sorry, noob to the P3 top just since this summer. :)

Yes, I'd definitely send it in if it actually came apart from the mod.

Thank you for the quick replies though!!
Ah, good to hear, they recoment using a coin to tighten the center ring. When removing the attie it's best to make sure the outer ring is screwed down and doesn't move when you take the attie off, in rare cases the whole thing can get locked up on the attie and be very difficult to remove.

My KFL+'s don't leak, but they get that, I don't know, e-liquid condensation. Teeny, tiny little "sweat" droplets on the base. I mean, they're barely the size of a pin, pointy end.
The inner part that has the 510 connector was kind of (barely) suctioned to the bottom of the atty. Not bad, just enough that I guess it stuck.
I don't over tighten, so if it was kind of loose to begin with, it prob just held.

...just me guessing though. ;)

I'd actually read about that, so I normally always hold onto the outer ring, just to stabilize it.

I did use a coin to snug it back in place.

Thank you sooooo much!!

Someone posted an explanation of why they fuse together sometimes,

I happens because the 510 and the outer beauty ring have different thread pitches, causing the outer ring to act as a lock nut.

I have contemplated for the future on sourcing a proper size o-ring to replace the outer ring, if such a time comes where they are no longer available...a bridge I hope I never need to cross.

It's a bridge we'd all like to blow up, for sure. :thumb:

Well, and if things end up TERRIBLY bad, and ECF ever goes away, not that I ever anticipate that, BUT...just saying IF, I'd really like to exchange emails with you guys, or figure out another possible area to meet, to stay in touch, and for possibly advice down the road. :)

I knew Kat was brave and adventurous, just one of the many reasons I love her so much. :)

That girl ain't no coward.

Edit:

I just noticed what Kat said at the end of her post :( I still love her anyway:)

Hey Kat, it would get your blood running and your heart beating. It's great exercise and I think there are only 5 mountain related deaths at Borah and 2 of them were during an earthquake.

Hmmmm, an Earthquake while hanging off the side of a mountain might be a little sporting trying to dodge the falling rocks while holding onto a ledge and such. :p

Awwwwwww.... you're so sweet, Jjjjjjjjjjjjjjohn. Unfortunately, your luscious critique of this DEATH TRAP sounds JUST a wee bit less than delightful to me.

I love gettin' me heart beating and me blood pumping, but I really DO prefer to do that on solid ground. LEVEL, FLAT, SOLID GROUND. :D

Does that mean you will never go climbing with me. :(

Only 5 people have died there in recorded history and thousands visit it each year. It's not really a death trap, it just looks scary.
