where do you order these grommets from?

Well chanel thanks for your remarks above. Money and time saved as get on to that great vape is the ticket you got right here. I'm trying as always to offer as much direct help to as many as possible. I know you do as well and that couldn't make me happier when most of you do that. I've published my motto…every bit closer to that million man vapeathon on the FDA's lawn.

But for the moment see the man, Sean at Lightning Vapes, for the answer on those firm grommets.

I am really diggin' DIY lately as I have the opportunity. I've kind of been forced into it but that's another story that merits tellin' another day. Suffice it to say I hesitate to point to any one vendor or solution. I'd like to be fair to all who seek an opportunity. I also expect the same by return. But I will single out a good product when I see one. If it's a good deal or performer for most of us. That's why I mentioned Nude Nic's tobacco (uniquely distilled TA). It's quite a powerful yet smooth 'baccer enhancer, remarkably clean performer. I'm using 0.5-1.0% as a diluted additive to bases like TFA dRY4 and having fairly good success dialing up the attributes I like.

Let us know how you make out!

Good luck.

:)

I thought I would join in and show what has been working well for me. I'm always willing to hear opinions and ways to improve things, so feel free!

I'm using a 5/6 wrap of 30 gauge kanthal, 1/16 I.D. and for me it comes out to a hair over 1.5ohms. The fill is rayon and it seems to work well at 10 to 11 watts. I don't use a flavor wick and haven't since I started with organic cotton.

I have no leakage and can run the tank pretty low with no problem. The only thing I've added to my PT2s is the Aero Tank V2 air flow controls.

If anyone knows of ways to improve the build, feel free to suggest. No one is perfect......well maybe Mac! :toast:

Channel, if it puts your mind at ease I have been buying from Sean at Lightning for a while now. Great customer service and products. Yes, RIMP's deal is better for this item and I have it bookmarked for when I need them again. Thanks RIMP!

Keep the hardness of the grommet in mind whether it's clear silicone or harder versions of so-called rubber (it's all silicone). If you haven't read my posts on termination, your termination style may not work with all grommet densities. If you terminate with a lot of lead tension this could utterly fail for you with soft silicone. You'll get lead slip for one thing. Generally the firmer the grommet the better for our purposes as it presents a better firmer grip surface for termination.

Heads up and good luck all.

:)

That's a beut crg, and it does the job for ya. If you wanna go a little bit wild, I got a little v2 envy recently and started boring out my v1 aero bases to 3/64", now 1/16". The first is fairly easy by hand. The 16th a bit more tedious. Easier if you step it…or just get lazy like me and pull the Dremel. A little bit more air is always handy once you got that wind matched up to that better flow.

:D

Good luck.

p.s. To my knowledge there's only one vendor that's got those v2 bases for the PT and v1 Aero. Know of any others?

Yes MVS has a very complete representation of the Kanger line. And I visit them regularly but it was not up the last time I checked recently (or I missed it). The Kanger Airflow Control 3.0 - Large is different from my other known source and version KangerTech Stainless Steel Aerotank Base

Dang you CRG, stop the Dremel's, now I'll have to get 'em all.

I do like to clean big hole look of the orig; the new one looks well, scary big. Just what are these Kanger whizz-winders up to??? Are they.going sub-ohm with their forthcoming tri-coil I presume? Not a joke!

I'm rushin' right out to try the KANGER AEROTANK TURBO TWO DUAL COIL CLEAROMIZER and buy a whole lotta bunches of these here KANGER AEROTANK V2 / MEGA / GIANT DUAL COIL SUB OHM REPLACEMENT COIL HEADS don'tcha know.

Honestly, what kind of ...... do they take us for on the other side of the planet. And I AM GONNA RANT HERE…aren't we tired yet of B&M's all over the country buying into this miracle of science and ingenuity and telling us this is the best, greatest most splendiferous vape we can ever possibly enjoy? While these rotten shorting miswound fishing knots of an excuse for a wind dry hit us all the night and day?

Aren't you glad you found this thread yet?

:D

Good luck and vape on!

So with some major assitance from Mac I have officially fixed my coil issues. So far vaped all night and most of today on the same cotton and still have great flavor no burnt taste and it is fantastic. It has only taken me a week to work out the kinks if you will, but I will say as a new vaper being able to come on here and have people who are willing to help is great. I do not know what i would have done with out MAC or ECF thanks!

Well I dunno if all done for Jaime but you've made a hell of a start for a week in. And I'm like most folks here glad to help those willing to help themselves. Just keep at it. We've all had our moments. Even with the right fryin' pan, you can still burn your eggs. So keep a lookout. Observation is everything to figuring out what these darned Protanks expect of us. LOL

Good luck.

My Taifun Eye came today:

View attachment 372803

24 watts, .7 ohms, 23mm. Lovin' it!

And yes, Ginger, my Corgi had chicken nuggets for lunch...

What is an Eye ?

Btw, i have been enjoying the Taifun clone i bought based on your recommendation, a lot more than my kayfun clones. Yeah, i know you probably never recommend buying a clone, but just can't get myself to spend upward of $ 100 for an atomizer !

Anyway, it might just be that the quality of the tai clone is better than my kay clones, but i get better flavor, and a lot better vapor. The throat hit is milder than the kayfun's though.

I like the idea of a better base for my PT2 mini's. I'm going to try one out. I was looking into the latest 3rd generation of Protanks and such but the dual coil heads just aren't rebuild friendly. I save way to much money building and wicking my own coils.
