we had exactly the same thoughts Otello. Your first one about static electricity and the other one about aluminium:):)
as for aluminium, its a great idea because it looks almost like SS and on the other hand it has great thermal and electrical conductivity
Well, unfortunately I understand very well your concerns; let's face the reality and admit most people just make silly things. ;)
Most people use wrong or inadeguate tools (are you sure it was a good idea to show how to open the locking ring using scissors, BTW? :p )
In case of elechtronic circuits, we have the static issue, too: most people don't care to discharge theyr body from static elechtricity before touching a circuit and, if they damage it, refure to understand that they made the damage.
On the other hand, maybe the circuit of Proteus easy to disassemble, maybe, will save the complete center unit from baths in isopropyl alcohol (a must for Provari users ;) )

I don't know, I understand the concern, but from the very beginning we always saw Proteus with the brass center unit; dunping it when you are at version beta 0.999999 is a cruelty for brass lovers like me ;)
(on my side I expected the brass option for the other spares, too, for making the full brass.)
Of course, the best solution would be to have both options.
Mmmm, why not 3? I'd LOVE an extra light all aluminum Proteus! :headbang:

I'd prefer Alu over Brass over SS but I also See the problems. The major Problem
is the GG warranty as not everybody knows to treat an Alu GG the right way.
Would be great to have all options (maybe with a limited warrant?), at least Brass parts would be great from the Start! :)

I have thought of that too cop because of the weight. But after the things I made on proteus mech construction, its very very light even if its made from SS
Aluminium Proteus with Penelope v3 short tank would be the ultimate GG in my opinion.

What in the world can I do to make this happen?

exactly aal. Only 1 thin line at 1,5mm of SS would be visible. It will look like a nice design on it
I say make all ss and all brass and let people choose to mix and match. By the way the all brass would look beautiful because the air ring covers the connector which is the only part that will stay ss.

Just thinking that proteus is meant to be a very portable and pocket friendly device for all day use , so it has to be as light as possible and strong at the same time . Other thing to keep in mind might be also the fact that we have the device in contact with our hands so it has to be also allergy free and off coarse we want it to perform perfectly . So thats why in general , most used material is SS then add the best contact points possible. Why not Titanium ? T1 has a bit better electrical conductivity compared to SS , bad thermal conductivity ( witch might be convenient) , Machining is similar to SS ( can be machined even thinner ) . Very strong material and ultra light wait . That for the outside body . For electrical contacts positive contact doesn't offer any problem, we can use even copper or solid silver contacts much better then brass and why not add an in tube negative contact ? I understand the collecting point , i might as well if i have the means because GG devices are all beautiful . But for proteus i'm thinking of having it in my hand,or in pocket, at least 12 hours a day . Just sharing thoughts anyway ...............

jm, thanks for your post but things are a little different about titanium. It has worse electrical conductivity than SS and it cant machined thinner because I have already reached the limits for our applications. For example the tube of proteus has a 17mm outside diameter and 16mm inside.

As for contacts, we cant put solid silver because its very expensive and the uinit has to be sold so hjign that noone will bother to pay all these money just for 0,1volt more

What I did for proteus is to make it the lightest I could (nothing more can be done) and SS to avoid rust. And keep in mind that titanium will tarnish and its conductivity will be much worse than SS in a while and there is no easy way to clean it

Thought titanium is rust proof . I have a couple of eye glasses made with titanium frame . Sweat is really aggressive and after years of use they still perfect , also a watch made of titanium case , same result ( not as shinny as SS , mat finish thought ) . Maybe specific titanium alloy , I'm not an expert on this . I'm sure you already studied all possibilities any way . As for the cost , we heavy ex smokers are saving at least 4000 $ a year :D

I'm a new member of this forum and I want to express my gratitude to ECF , to all members as well . After a year off research in my opinion the best e-cig forum . Here I found the GG , which changed completely my vaping experience , in my opinion the best e-cig that money can buy. Three months vaping with GG attys , simply the best . Now impatiently waiting to have Proteus . Thanks Imeo....:)

titanium doesnt rust of course like brass doesnt rust too. It only tarnish but is not visible because it has almost same colour with the metal JM. But it makes electrical conductivity a mess

Thanks Imeo . You are right . Didn't realized that . Some times I forget that our negative ( positive ) pole is the mod body in itself.

Not only titanium is a bad conductor, its also easy to scratch and i find it as an ugly metal in fact, who had only an interest/legitimity in personal equipment found in its 'specs' charima (mostly weight) before the turn of the ceramic, high-tech plastics and exotic anodizations. Titanium is from my point of view clearly outdated and typical of the early 1990's. (wich in itself is not a negative thing i mean).

In the other (heavier and luminous) hand, I strongly believe we'll have one day more mods available in silver ;) as there is for centurys silver small personal quality items for men, pens, lighters, and gold watches + the 'technico-romantic' excuse of conductivity specially found in mods (as there is 1200meters waterproof watches) cannot be missed.

The absolute coolness of vaping with a beautiful beloved device, the price given to attention to details and finition, the work yet done on different yellow brass, engravings, anodizing by some makes the option of a precious metal mod yet a reality (caravela silver is reputed sold out). For the price ... I may stop 6 month purchasing all the devices released on the planet for a silver GG, only one, once . Or built it piece by piece, time after time.

'darling, wath do you want for Xmass this year, i'v no idea to be frank ?
Wow i'm dreaming about a vented bottom cap in silver or the vermeil button head made the 10 years anniversary of the GG ! ;)

We are actually in the very early times of the interest , a too small market, for quality vaping 'equipment' , we are pionneer, that's a question of time... Not a bad time anyway
