Sorry for not being in the loop, is the Penelope V4 just for Proteus, meaning I wouldn't be able to use the V1? I saw one for sale and since I have no Penelope I thought about buying it but if Imeo will sell a smaller Penelope just for Proteus of course I'd rather get that. Last question, will we be able to get the Penelope on preorder as well if we have a Proteus waiting? Thanks

I asked Imeo the same question and was just as disappointed when I thought that it wouldn't work. Imeo said that it does work, at least most of the time.

I am opting for the V4 because of the wider space for coils, since VIR only accepts titanium. I have titanium coils in my Ithaka, but it is tight. From what I understand, it's going to be like a Penelope-sized Tilemahos.

As for wicks, most people seem to be using cotton or rayon cellucotton with the titanium because of how quickly it wicks liquid. I've personally tried both (I'm using cellucotton right now). Not a fan. Might give silica wicks a try with the titanium.

Proteus does come with VIR, included in the price.

Silver, the Penelope V4 will only be 79 euros. It's going to be much smaller, built with Proteus in mind, and only requires resistance wire. Hopefully they will be ready the same time as Proteus. Imeo said he only has a couple hundred ready, so we'll see what happens.

As soon as we can buy the Ti grade 1 from your sellers its ok for me . I remember mentioned that you have plenty Ti grade 1 wire , right ?

Imeo , since VIR doesn't come with auto detection , what will happen if ESG ti alloy is used ? will it still work ? I understand that the temperature coefficient of the alloy will be slightly different , so maybe we can adjust up or down the temp. range , but the question is , will it work ? or VIR will shut down because its wrong wire ?
Just curious . Of course I will get the proper wire as soon as available. :)

I havent made any tests JM but it will not work the right way.

The thing is that an electronic has to work. If an electronic doesnt work exactly as it has to work and we try to do tricks to make it work, its really useless:)

Ok Imeo , I understand . As I said ,for sure I will use always the proper wire ,Ti grade one . Was just curious if you tested using the Ti alloy .

Your sellers will have the Ti grade 1 wires ? Thanks :)

Sorry, I am getting more and more confused after reading the last pages here.

a) Will Proteus work with a Penelope V1?

b) Do I really need titanium wire?

Kind regards
Schlurchi

Short answer for both questions is yes.

Longer version to a) we all hope so. Imeo said that it works most of the time with V1 and V2. The general concensus is that as long as you are using titanium wire with silver as your NR wire, it should work.

Longer version to b) you definitely need titanium grade 1 wire. Originally we were going to be able to use both titanium and stainless steel, but because there are SO many functions programmed into VIR, Imeo ran out of programming space on the chip.

But, with Imeo being Imeo I would expect some sort of crazy space-aged laser-powered e-cig in the near future, making VIR obsolete. So enjoy it while it lasts.
