You probably don't get many provari questions in the newbie forum. Figure by the time someone gets around to one of those mods, they have enough posts to open a thread in the correct subforum.
Well not me.
Last week I was all about the ego-twist, having only smoked autos before.
But after reading and reading and reading, and some soul searching, I began to realize what you learn when buying tripods for your photography needs. This is, that you spend more $$ buying the lesser equipment, and eventually wind up with the full featured tripod, so why not save steps and money and go right for what you want.

Well that might not be for everyone, but that is where my head is now. I am seriously considering buying the provari mini as my first real e-cig.
And I have questions. I feel guilty as hell buying such a "grail" while my knowledge of e-cigs would indicate I should be climbing the ladder more slowly. But I realize I am who I am and I think I can deal with it.

I have been having the hardest time trying to figure out what to use with the mini. I've been thinking about the different tanks and clearos. but am wondering now, about first trying the cartos that are sold on provapes own sight.
I wonder if anybody has bothered to try those with their provari and if so can you tell your experience with them ?

Much obliged.

Floyd.

Are you serious? This section gets flooded with should I get a Provari posts.

As a Provari owner, they are worth the money. I love mine.

When it comes to cartos, I prefer the 1.7 ohm Resurrectors from Crystal Clear Vaping. Crystal Clear Vaping

Personally I would go for the tried and tested setup of the ProVari and Vivi Nova. I have almost every type of cart in my stash and walk around 95% of the time with a Vivi. They just work it's that simple. Your philosophy is sound jumping into the best first and you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Sicarius. I've been sitting here looking over those prepunched cartos on that pro-v cartomator that vaperfexion makes. It's a real beauty. I like how the bottom cap can remain flush but it has a groove that allows good airflow. But they apparently only work with those cartomizers.
Then there is the even more decadent and expensive Z-Atty-Pro from provape. OMG !!
Good to know though that vivi-nova works.
Do you know if I would need any adapters to make that work on the provari mini ? Like a 510-510, or something to lift the bottom cap off the top of the PV ?

Thank You,
Floyd

I went from cigalikes straight to a Provari.....best decision ever.....I laugh every time someones lavatube cap falls off or zmax stops working.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Ghostrider. :))

Just like in photography, buy a used device first, If It fits your needs, then you saved a few pennies, If you NEED a new one, then resell and buy the new shiny.
Same same.

I'm a fool Izan. I know I should buy used, but I just can't ever bring myself to do it.

When it comes to Provaris you might as well buy new. They go for a decent amount in the classifieds. You could always hold out for Pro Vape to put blemished ones on clearance. I got my chrome one for $140 and it only had a small scratch on it. It looks about 10x worse after months of use.

If you are going to be using a Provari in a rough environment, get the stainless(unfinished). There is no finish to get scratched.

I drop mine on the concrete at least once a week.

I'd have destroyed a dozen lavatubes in the time I've had my provari.

Get the big one with the 18650 cap. The more battery you can get, the better.

I use these cartos. Cheap, easy, disposable.

I don't see why people have to have huge batteries. I have 2 18350's and I change the battery 1 time a day and I think I vape a lot 4-6ml a day. I liked the gripping teardrops better on the mini and can always put the cap on for extra battery but I like the stealthiness of the mini.

Thanks for chiming in James before the power lovers talk me out of my choice. :)))
Seriously I would usually go for the big battery option. But I considered that this thing has a low battery warning, and carrying an extra 16350 isn't an inconvenience worth mentioning for me.
If there were a difference in the vape at all, then I would reconsider. As it is, I plan on using 3ohm units, so from what I've heard, one battery should last me through an8 hour day.
If not there is always the option of the 18490 and end cap.

I do appreciate all the input folks.
I just need to decide which to start with, cartos, tanks, straight atomizers or what ?
I will hopefully pull the trigger today.

The reason there IS a Provari is so that you can use anything you want. The cartomizer was "tried and true" long before Vivi Nova's came along, and they're a great way to get your feet wet with your new Provari. A 3ohm carto will allow you the widest range of voltage adjustment, and is what ProVape suggests.

I also have the Mini and like the tear drops, much easier on the hands. OH, and when you get it you might get a chuckle out of finding out that you got a ProVarmini, not a ProVari.

I had to go double-check the site on that one. Interesting little piece of branding they have there on the device. Yet all over the site they call it the provarI mini. A bit of an "I"dentity crisis. <grin>

I saw a review that said those xl 510 cartos on their site are pretty low end. Not true ?

One thing that I hadn't really considered yet, that maybe I should check out is to start out with a straight atomizer and just drip. I need to find where to read some pros and cons about that style.

Now don't get me wrong, I drip at least 90% of the time, but learning to drip can be a little frustrating until you get it all figured out. For that reason I would suggest that you get your feet wet first, and then try your hand at dripping.

This is the carto that I use.

And this is the new kid on the block should you want to invest in a carto tank.

And these are the tanks that I use.

Used Provari's retain most of their original value and you don't save much buying used. A blemished Provari from provape cost $160 and I have not seen any used Provari's sell for under $150. And rightly so a two year old Provari works just as good as a brand new one.

Everyones needs and wants are different, I started with a mini and was useing 3 batteries a day got and extension cap for 18490 and went down to 2 batteries per day. Sold the mini and bought a standard with extension and one 18650 for a day of vapeing. Also found I liked the balance of the extended Provari better with a tank on the top the mini with tank always felt top heavy.
