My work week this week, Monday worked 7 1/2 Hrs, Tuesday 7, Wednesday 7. Thursday was tough, started at 4:45 AM worked straight threw till 2:15 PM. I had one 15 min break, just long enough to get a sandwich, and get moving again. Around mid day I was told to set up tables and chairs for a whole company meeting for noon today. When I got off I had to go to my doctor to find out why they did not renew my blood pressure med prescription. I ended up having an exam right then, so did not leave there till 4:30. I then needed to go get my prescription at the pharmacy near where I work, and did not leave there until 5:10 PM. Then it took me a little over an hour to get home. Then sometime last night, sitting here in front of this computer I fell asleep, (I never do that) woke up around 11:00 pm, and went to bed properly.
I thought the meeting today was going to be about insurance, 401k and the Xmas party all in one, it wasn't. The owners of the company announced that they had sold the company to another thriving and growing Mechanical contractor. I was really kind of shocked, in a way I knew it would happen at some point. My first impressions are good of the new owners, our company has not really been busy in a long time, and these guys are young and ambitious, so I think I might be back on 40 hour weeks soon. I have worked here for 36 years, and I don't like the idea of trying to find another job at 58 years old, so anyway the next few months are going to be interesting. One of my co-workers was talking about the insurance we are going to have, and said it sucks. Something about $4,000 out of pocket per year for a single person, and they will match $1,000 per year put into the account, that just sounds bizarre. I just needed to share this weird week I had.
