I've always been interested in human behavior. I also have never seen such mass insanity.
I just came back from an Aldi trip and got totally confused by what people were stocking up on. OK, toilet paper leads the list even though Covid 19 has not been described as having an affect on one's bowels. And even if the motivation is surviving a 14 day quarantine, how much TP can even an entire family use in two weeks? Even if they all were born with IBS? Answer: people are being unthinking rabbits because other people are being unthinking rabbits.
There were limits placed on a lot of things. I'm still trying to understand why a limit was put on ALL paper products. Maybe paper napkins are backup for when you use up your 3 cases of TP stash? But paper plates and cups? Huh?
And finally, even though Aldi has gone way downhill in the last year or so they still seem to be a company trying to do things right. So, with even more notices posted than the item limits, the store was covered with the new temporary policy of no longer using the "satisifed or 100% refund" program.
My checker was a younger guy who's always been great and seems to have a brain so I asked him about that. He shrugged, saying "Yeah, doesn't make much
sense. Corporate!"
PS: There was plenty of bottled water. But no bread.
