I enjoyed this song for a long time before I realized that Springsteen had written it. One of the somewhat rare cases where the cover is better than the original. But I also had to use the internet to find out what the douche was all about in the lyrics. Turns out it's gearhead Bruce referring to a term all us street rats knew - Deuce - the nickname we gave the Chevy II cars we raced.

I also liked it before I knew Springsteen wrote it, I like this version better also. I never really researched the tune, or what it all meant though.
