I was just fine ignoring all this virus crap. I went shopping without a mask, and got eyeballed a bit, but no big deal.
Then the fking state of MA proclaimed that to go into a supermarket you needed to wear a fking mask. [And sorry Anna that you're not feeling well, but masks on me or Trump are next to worthless.] OK. What's my choice? I could starve, which is ok. But, the liquor stores had to do the same thing. Honestly, booze is keeping me sane through this ridiculous government overreach. I'm not worried about sweet Corona, just what the gov't has done to us in response.
So, I give in. I have an old mask I used to use when I did woodworking and pulled it out and put it on. Smelled like sawdust.
The other thing keeping me sane was cycling on the several rail trails in this area.
And keep in mind that I live in Western MA and they keep talking about how bad it is, but there have been probably as many deaths as from the flu.
So, a couple of days ago, the city decided that everyone walking or cycling on a rail trail must wear a mask or face a $300 fine.
I'm not sure if it's a bluff, in that it will never be enforced and assume that people will cave.
I decided to risk it and had no encounters with big brother yet, but I suspect it's coming.
I suddenly badly want to get out of here. Where to?
My wife said tonight that in internal memo from her company stated that they are not expecting to return to normal until at least September...she works for a powerhouse financial institution... I am going to taking a LOT of long bike rides this summer just to keep sane. This is crazy times we are living in.

You do NOT have to uh apologize to me frankly, unless you are full on PPE and you do it right, your best bet is the Micheal One Glove, I think and staying away from people which I SO, so SO try to do from shoppers ANYWAY. They be gross. But yeah, disinfect your one hand on the cart, keep it there, and use that hand ONLY for like touching stuff that is yours like your debit card, and the other you use to load up with contaminated items. Unless someone is directly deliberately coughing (not a sneeze, cough) in your face, well, IDK I mean, there's little to worry about. You should kneecap the coughers right there.
This is only caught through all close quarters if you are all up doing dental work in someone's grill without a mask. The MJ glove technique might've been mentioned on another thread but it works.
Then you get your groceries in the back remove glove sanitize hands and BOOM. I was never a huge fan of the masks. This virus is like HEP C to HIV, far less easy to die from but it LASTS forever on surface/in blood. Until they like found a better treatment with Hep B, I might taken my chances with an HIV needle stick frankly unless it was completely immediate because it lives out side the body might not fast.
I am not having a fun TIME with the COVID 19 but it was really only on day two I thought I had a pigs chance in hell of dying, although I will say I have not been sick for so long EVER that I can remember, it's unpleasant for many but I also believe the dose makes the poison. IF I had not been FORCED to remove my ONE paper mask at work, over and over and over all day for days on end I have a feeling I might not have gotten as sick as NO MASK AT ALL.
I am also of the belief that the WHO DEFINITELY THEIR NUMBERS BLOW ME AWAY pretty soon we will need "negative numbers of dead" (because we will have run out of population and the CDC as well..... GRRR.
Do we have ANY flu deaths counted this season why no, no we DO NOT. And if I were remotely sniffly at ALL I am ALSO quite sure my "negative" test would have been turned into a positive death.
I THINK ALL THE PPD should have been given to front line workers and ALL the energy put into treatment not counting and we should revive or FREAKING ECONOMY Before it is too late!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to work again since I enjoy food, housing and healthcare and what the politicians and globalists are doing SICKENS me.
Sometimes you have to say "Eat it" which I did every day on entry to work and do what is best for the majority. But well, that means...………….

We STILL SHOULD have cared for the sick and the elderly and like created job by bringing what they needed WE KNEW TO DO THAT BY THE TIME COVID WAS HERE.

I will say this one chick wanted to TOUCH all the ice cream of a certain ilk. She opened the fridge shoved her head in and started TOUCHING and rearranging all of it for NO reason at all EVERY LAST ONE SHE TOUCHED. I stared incredulously and said, "Are you not going to buy any?" She was like, "What?" I was like "Does your X shop here and like that stuff I mean WHAT?" She was like, "No.... why?" I said, "I saw you touch and rearrange EVERY PINT OF THAT STUFF. You know freezer doors are clear for a reason. YOU are just a toucher, and I am too so I get but CURB YOURSELF there, killer!" I got the sniffety sniff but it was worth it

Our governor ordained those masks to be worn in public effective this past Saturday, but at least allowed an exception for exercising, which for me includes walking. So far, I see it being largely ignored, except inside a business. Businesses seem to be the proxie enforcers - possibly under threat of losing the business license.

It's sometimes hard to reply to your posts, since there's so much in them in so many directions.
But, I'm not at all concerned about Corona personally. I accept it may hasten my death, but I seriously doubt it.
The stats are fairly clear and consistent internationally. The old and those with significant underlying medical issues are those at the most risk. 99% of the fatalities are in those two categories.
I'm not sure that when it's all said and done soon, that the #s will be significantly diff than a bad flu season. But, again, the big diff is that the seasonal flu is indiscriminant in its victims. Corona is most harmful to the elderly and those with comorbidities.
And who the hell would have ever expected us to know that word and ever use it!!
