RIP Jeff Beck

He did a fantastic rendition of The Beatles A Day in the Life.

I had not heard. Another hard to take loss. I will never forget finding an obscure review raving about somebody I'd never heard of and their Truth album. Took a while to find a place that carried it, but it was mindblowing.

Yes, another hard to take loss for certain.

His agent said he passed away peacefully on Tuesday after 'suddenly' contracting bacterial meningitis.

Reading the obit, I had certainly heard of the Yardbirds but didn't know the names of anyone in the group. A later sentence set me back in my chair. I remember the song well, but had no idea of who I was listening to other than Beck.

"Beck’s first hit single was 1967’s instrumental “Beck’s Bolero,” which featured future Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, and future Who drummer Keith Moon."

The links on the sidebar made the loss even deeper for me. He was a car guy. No, not a rich guy who bought expensive cars. He was in to hot rods (32 Ford coupes, etc.) and built them himself. Top to bottom. I rebuilt other sorts and not those, but still a guy after my own heart and now even more respect for the talents he had.
