Hi y'all! I started a thread over yonder ...
Disappointing service life for Aspire Nautilus BVC coils lately
Then I found my way to this thread where the question might be more appropriate. So, is short service life of Aspire nautilus BVC coils 'a thing' ... ? As described in the above thread, I've only been getting maybe two days per coil. I know this isn't an Aspire knook, but I don't know where that is, sorry.

For convenience, I'll copy/paste here:
Is it just me? Maybe I got a bad batch of coils...

I used to get nearly a week from a coil. But, for the past few months I've been lucky to get two days from one. Two things change around the time I noticed this change: I bought 6x 5Packs of coils, half 1.6Ω and the other half 1.8Ω, all in a single buy.

The other thing that changed is I started exclusively mixing my own eLiquid, most at a PG portion of 60-70% and 16-18mg. That's higher PG than the commerically prepared liquid I had been buying previously (usually 50/50), but about the same nicotine.

I use the full size Aspire Nautilus on a ProVari at from 3.7 to 5.2V and take mostly short drags of 1 to 6 seconds.

Any feedback? My coil cost has more than doubled since the first of the year and I'm not super happy about that.

Any herpetologists in the room?

I've spotted this fellow in my mom's back yard several times. Can anyone identify it? I got some new pictures today while he was apparently hunting for frogs or small fish ... or maybe just enjoying the gawd awful Florida heat and blazing sunshine. He's not a moccasin, nor any other kind of poisonous snake, since the only venomous snake in Florida with round pupils is the coral snake, which it obviously is not.

This is from a sighting perhaps a month ago, on land.

He's one of several snakes who live in her back yard. I'm just curious, not fearful. What the heck is he?

Oh, I'm in north Florida, in case that helps.

I've ordered some coils from ebay that were said to be authentic ... and surprise, weren't. I think you can also get some knock-offs from FastTech. The authentic coils are pretty consistent and reliable. The knock-offs generally don't perform well. Excessive spit and sputter and noticeably shortened lifetime, but sure as heck are a lot cheaper and come in a box that looks 100% authentic.

The snake? I'm in Lower Alabama. Without conformation research and I'm no expert, my guess is Green Water Snake. MAYBE a Copper-Bellied Water Snake.

I didn't know if I should name the vendor or not. Since it might be relevant here, it wasn't eBay. I got this batch from Mt. Baker Vapor. I also buy from Myfreedomsmokes, but their price is just a tad higher.

Thanks for the snake thoughts. I've tried a number of the online identification guides. For a non-expert, this can be a bit tricky because individuals from the same species can vary quite a bit in coloration. Hmmm.

First guess is the higher vg%, I use 70pg/30vg and my bvc coils in my Kabukis last avg. 3 mos. 18 mg.

But, my VG is down to 30-40%, where previously it had been 50%.
I'm essentially using the same balance as you are.

I exclusively DIY at 60pg/40vg, and have been doing so for well over three years. I vape flavorless and also tobacco flavors, Hangsen and inawera and blend these down with the flavorless at rather low percentages. My Apire Nautilus coils last for about five days to a week an a half each, while going through about 8-10mls per day, at settings of 7.8-a little over 8 watts towards the end of the coil. The life expectancy of my coils hasn't changed barring and accasional long or short lasting one, since the Kabuki was released. I don't recall how long that is, but it's been a while.

I noticed you mentioned that you recently began mixing, are you using flavor? at what percentage? vendor? too many variables to really make a guess. sometimes it is what it is...

I'm using mainly LorAnn and Capella. A little Faeries Finest and TFA. And some ammendments such as Vape Wizard, Erythritol, and Tobacco Absolute 50% from eCigExpress.
I'd happily abandon or reduce anything I'm using if it is causing my coils to prematurely clog up. I never use any ammendments over 1%, usually less than that.

Oh, and I target 15% total flavorings, ammendments included. I try to avoid the darker flavorings and have paid extra for some of the 'clear' versions. But I haven't totally sidestepped them.

I can get a couple of months off good Nautilus coils in the Kabuki but I don't vape more than a couple of milliliters a day at 11.4 watts 12mg 50/50 flavorless. As Enaud pretty much said, everything is relative. I couldn't even tell you what you might reasonably expect. About all I can tell is that I recall Aspire saying replace every 500 puffs or draws on the coils. Can't remember where I read it ... maybe in a Nautilus tank owners instructions that came with it.

I think I get more than that a majority of the time and I'm absolutely 100% positive that's what I read Aspire had to say about the Nautilus coils ... replace every 500. Maybe your mod has some kind of counter and you could check it?

Tobacco absolutes are notorious coil gunkers, even at very dilute ratios, they have the flavor, along with the stuff that will kill a coil or wick in short order. I too use them, but only in dripping atties that can be re-wicked. Some of my net and TA blends will require rewicking on an hourly basis, they can be that bad...but the flavor :) my total percentage of flavoring runs on average at two to three percent at best, offset with the occasional refill of zero flavor...catch my drift? It's all a balancing act and what you value, if you want a lot of flavor and/or want a "natural" i.e. TA experience, you'r going to go through coils like no tomorrow. It is what it is, the stuff in TA's includes natural sugars and other stuff that just won't vaporize so it clogs the wick and fouls the coil. Those blends are best suited to a setup that you can replenish and clean/ dry burn frequently, like a simple RDA. Good luck.

How long are you planning on storing it? I've let mine sit for weeks to a month or so without doing anything to it. If I were to pack one away for, say, years... I'd pull the battery out of it and store that seperately, but that's me. For long term storage of lithium cells they will hold up better at about 3.7-3.8 volts.
i don't know for how long,
i intended on taking the battery out anyway.
the thing is i got a mod for home and one for outside,so i don't really need to use it right now,
also it's kind of a precious mod for me,so i prefer keeping it for now.
for some reasons i have in my mind that like many devices and objects, you need to let them run sometimes(cars, human body..)so they keep functioning,
idk if this applies to electronics(maybe dust, humidity, corrosion, electronics wear out)
[i just looked it a bit, it's possible for electronics to wear out over time for many reasons,so i guess i'd better use it while it last and buy less mods...).

Dang it, I did not know that. Guess I'll have to stop using it. As I recall, it was kind of pricey too.

They are pricey, but VERY concentrated. I followed the recomendation of diluting the TA at a 5% rate, and then using that dilution at like 1-2% as an additve to the final mix. Even at those low rates I have experienced coil gunking. DIY for me , involved a lot of trial and error at first, till I found out what worked for me. That is half the fun of it for me.
