Oh yes! We had moved the first part of this year, at our last place I had spent eight years attracting them and planting things that attract them, I had two feeders there, and they were very busy. I really didn't know if I'd get any where we are now at, so when I spotted one early April, I got a feeder out there right away, and have been keeping it fresh since, lil buggers buzz my head when I am grilling outside, the feeder is just eight feet away on the other corner of the deck. Some times they buzz by my head when I am changing the feeder out for a fresh one
You know the following already but you talking about hummers reminded me to post this for anyone who might not know. When I worked at the Cinti Zoo and was a licensed wild bird rehabilitator I answered tons of calls from the public about feeding hummers. Baby hummers was one of favorite species to raise .

"Depending on which part of the U.S. you live in hummingbirds should be in your area sometime between March and May so here is hummingbird feeding 101:

1. The formula is one part sugar ( not honey) to four parts hot water. You don't need to add food color.
2. The formula must be replaced every 3-4 days if the temperature is above 80 degrees. That's because at higher temps the formula can ferment.
3. Before refilling the feeder wash it with hot water and soap and rinse it well. The feeder can be soaked in a 10% bleach solution if molds grows on it. Be sure to rinse well.
4. The feeders can stay up until all hummers have left the area in the fall. It's not true that leaving the feeders up will stop them from migrating.
5. Please share this.

By the way if anyone is trying to attract hummers and hasn't seen any in the neighborhood, attach a big red plastic flower above the feeder or a large red plastic ribbon (plastic so it won't deteriorate in the rain). These often make it easier for hummers passing through to find the feeder."

And the girls are as nasty as the boys too.
I thought you'd like this one!

BTW if you really like cats you might enjoy an FB page (Maggie's world) maintained by a neighbor of mine who is also an author. It is supposed to be written by her cat Maggie about her adventures and is hilarious.

Thanks E !!! It's a very nice knife. But being flat bolsters and single sprung there's a lot of knife in one narrow channel and there is the slightest bit of blade rub from the tang of the Wharncliffe to the pile side of the spear on virtually all the Northwoods Presidentials. When presented, Derrick explained that it was to be expected. It was minimal on this one and I think I've eliminated the blade rub entirely. Just needed some loving LOL.

I'm not afraid to modify my tools to make them more pleasing for me to use ;)

Mrs CMD is an avid hummingbird feeding kind of person. I have found that growing red tomatoes will attract them, too. I find little needle punctures in the tomatoes, I'm betting the hummers.

... but if you met me you couldn't tell it and wouldn't know it. Just a tiny bit hard of hearing sometimes. Too many raucous military serenades. And don't see as well as I once did. Lens replacement in both eyes fixed most of that. I've been richly blessed :)

Thanks Cold!!

Takes time to take and post pics. That's why I quit doing it. Except, for the most part, dead squirrels. I still take the pics, just don't post all of them as it wasn't being appreciated. Shot a black one today in one of the mulberry trees. He didn't die right away so don't know if he did. Jackie said she heard him cry when he got hit and he didn't leave the tree as long as I was out there watching. Don't know...
