Speaking of Dyson. When I was living in the country, I went away for a year and rented out the house, leaving the two cats in the house with the renters, giving them a break on rent to take care of them, since they appeared to be aware of animally things. Hah.
When I returned, the damned house and cats were crawling (hopping is a better word, I guess) with fleas. They said that they had a blanket out on the lawn for their toddler and brought it in, and brought in the little hopping creatures. Idiots. The cats were going nuts and one had a bare spot on her belly from scratching. The other lived in the basement in a box of my wires. Sleeping on top of wires? Must have been bad for her.
Anyway, I had the place sprayed and they said to vac everyday. I had a Kenmore canister, which otherwise worked fine. But, not in this case.
Fleas kept reappearing. If you've ever had them in a house you know how horrendous it is.
It was finally clear that the vac wasn't doing it, so I picked up a Dyson upright animally thing. There was so much more suction it was amazing. I could see hopping in the clear canister. Between the D and the spraying, solved that disgusting problem. I've been a fan since.

I give the miscreants a monthly multi-spectrum anti-parasite. I started with Pfizer Revolution topical and it worked well, but at some point several years ago switched to Trifexis chewable. In 11 years here, I've only seen fleas on the dogs when they've tangled with a wild critter that wandered into their sanctuary but even those didn't last long. Fleas were dying as soon as they hit the dog. Hate is a strong word, but I HATE fleas. Don't give 'em a chance.

As far as floor cleaning, I don't have a single carpet in the house. Wall to wall front to back wood floors. Real wood. 1945 wood. Even my bathmat is a spa grade wood mat. When the miscreants were pups, they'd "steal" the bath mat ... so wood mat like they have in spas ... problem solved. Wood floors are easier to keep clean IMO.

Used the Dyson v8 stick vac for the first time a few minutes ago and gonna love this thing I can tell. Won't replace the Dyson upright or cannister for extended deep cleaning on "weekly field days" but what it hits, it gets real good for a stick vac. It's just what I've been looking for in a quick once over grab and go. The dogs sleep with me, and the stick vac power head with mini motorized tool is perfect for keeping the bedding free of dog hair between washings too. Did the whole house with it and had one power bar indicator of three to spare. Emptying was a breeze and no bags to replace. Dyson recommends washing the filter once a month. Powerful enough on the low power setting. Can't imagine using the turbo Max setting often. Maybe on carpet or something if I had any carpet. Dunno. Battery doesn't last long on Max though. Only something like 7 minutes !!! Good thing I will seldom need it. Only time it felt a little awkward was trying to get way under the sofa. The rigid metal down tube isn't flexible and other devices/regular vacs are better suited. In the wall mount docking station and recharging. Calling it a win.

Sorry to interrupt the Dyson show, Hobberz, but you did ask about batts.

I did a super kwick inventory on my '350s (which are for the most part fairly ancient). I have both the Holos and the black backgrounds, all of which are 700 mAh. Helpful?

Perhaps not.

But I was swept away with the discourse.

Can anyone show me a picture of an 800mAH AW 18350 with a black background sticker from a Mooch Approved Battery vendor or otherwise approved AW distributor? ... anyone? @Bronze? ... anyone

Mason likes to sit in the sand and pretend he's at the beach. He's never been to the beach but apparently likes the squirrels there

I'm a Dyson guy. They've never let me down.

You really can't beat a vacuum cleaner that compares itself to a toilet (more suction:lol::lol:) but after having worked as a maid in college during a summer break, I made the husband buy me an Oreck super-duty vacuum. You just can't beat those things, mine is over 11 years old and the only thing I've ever had to replace was the fanbelt (once). We also used it to rehab 3 homes (that's really heavy duty when it comes to vacuuming things up). Give me light and portable every time, you can't beat those things. My son is a Kirby fan and I hate those, it's like pushing a lawnmower. We had a head to head challenge one time, and my Oreck won :lol:.

Do. Not. Get.ME started on the Roomba I-Robot, my son was obsessed with those things, and at one point we had 3 of them in various stages of disrepair. But honestly, it's probably cheaper to just buy and feed (to the minimum, I guess) a dog, that would lick things off the floor. Plus, the damn robot was always bumping into me from behind.... It gave me the creeps, LOL.

My son is strangely obsessed with vacuum cleaners, now that I think about it, and kind of OCD on mess, generally (now that he's an adult. I wish he had been that way prior to moving OUT, but such was not to be....) :)

Our household was strangely dismissive of trying the Dyson, I'm not sure why, perhaps comparing one's vacuum to a toilet is NOT the best marketing strategy, although IIRC, my son wanted me to get one, but I held steadfast...:lol::lol:

Hopefully Terry got his answer about the AW stickers LOL. They're old but prolly maybe or maybe probably still have some life in 'em.
Just looked at all my 350s and 490s, all bought from RTD, and they all are pale with holograms.
Heres a decent article on fakes. Fakes are being made in both black border and hologram. Most important, any real black border logo battery ceased distribution 12/13. So no matter when a black border battery was sold to you, it was manufactured 12/13 or before.

How to tell fake AW Batteries from genuine ones

I considered a Roomba. My brother has one and really likes it. But I just didn't think it would keep up with Sugar's shedding without getting overfilled often or clogged everyday. And I didn't think Mason would allow it to roam the house unmolested LOL.

The Oreck is a good vac. It'll suck a bowling ball through a straw of something like that. Anyway, when I worked as a machinist in the 70's, our quality control guy left us to head up Oreck's QC. Oreck paid him well, relocated him etc etc, good benefits. Just seemed to be a good company with a good product. If I'm ever infested with bowling balls flying around ... I'm gettin' an Oreck.
