Exciting day at the E Homefront...main waterline let go under the house, before the whole house cut off valve...went out to the street and shut off what I thought was my meter, water hept flowing.....many frantic calls to emergency plumbing services only to discover such a thing is merely a joke in my area...frantic call to the water company and they said a tech would call with a blocked number....I finally found my meter, and it was buried in mud up to the cover plate, nobody has looked at this meter in a looooong time. I started digging, with my hands and with a cup, got to where I could finally see the meter and the cut off valve...Bubba must have got the ticket to install this thing because the cut off valve was snug up against the wall of the plastic box set it the ground to protect the flooded valve and meter. So, I started digging, and scooping mud to gain access to this cluster Fffff, and then the tech guy shows up. Between the two of us we managed to dig out and pry loose the plastic box, whereupon the line ruptured, rapidly filling the hole with murky clay water. All the meanwhile my crawl space is being flooded from the broken feed line...but he managed to secure the shut off valve and stop the flow of water. So...no running water in E's house, but the good side is no more flooding under the house...tomorow I go shopping for a wet vac, and wait for the call from the emergency plumbers, no time frame given, just a , we'll call ya when they are 30-45 minutes out:facepalm: good thing the liquor store is only two miles away:vapor::toast::laugh:

:(:(:(...

And when the police question her..."Like, I didn't know. How tubular"!

Sounds like some of the calls I answered back when my now-responsible stepdaughter wasn't quite as responsible. Thankfully only trees and such were involved - never any humans.

She stopped doing it after almost taking herself out.

I'd like to, like, "like" this but, you know, you have posted something that makes, but you know, having come of age before this affected speech became, like, you know, a THING? (always end a sentence with a questioning upswing)
PS: been a long time since I heard the word "tubular", I am not sure how old my daughter was when last I heard it but I prayed for her rapid maturation.

I never knew what "tubular" meant when my daughter used it but contextually I divined out that it was something good. So if she she said something I did or said was tubular then I was pleased thinking that I had traversed that divide between teen and adult. If I ever got a "totally tubular", I knew I was "in" for at least ten minutes.
