So today when I logged on today the Google doodle was a bunch of lit candles...who the hell is this Google and how does it know the date I was born on...what else does the Google know about me? does it constantly watch me and record every detail of my life??? is it even human, or have a consciousness, or self awareness? I don't know exactly how I feel about this Google machine watching over me...it's a little unnerving.

Ask Alexa what Google knows.

For a bit of a laugh (possibly), Google (paste) >

"amazon alexa play tickle tickle"
Whythe EFF would anyone want such a monstrosity in their homes?!?? I completely numbs my mind trying to comprehend the absolute lack of critical thinking that folks would find such a device a thing they would want/trust/feel a need for/not see the danger in/ ad infinitude... some days I feel like I woke up in an alternate dimension of the universe.

Agreed. It's bad enough having these full time tracking & listening devices in our pockets. I've actually named my "FBI Guy". He's a 12 year-old boy (I based that on my maturity level) named, "Bobby."

Every once in while, I'll look at my phone and say, "That's right, Bobby. I said it. Deal with it."

You might think I'm kidding. I am not.

NO Alexa, NO "smart home", NO vacuum with a GPS mapping device, etc.. The phone and tablet are enough. "They" already know my every move.

Life. It's full of choices.

Wait'll they roll out 5G, the internet of all things...they want to monitor everything down to the size of our ejected stools...1942 Germany had nothing on comparison to the world we live in and are moving towards... it can't happen here... sorry pal, that ship sailed decades ago!

I don't watch TV unless there's a national/local emergency or in the bedroom watching whatever mind numbing nonsense, to help me go to sleep. I have two ROKU TV's and an antenna for local broadcasts. And we don't have many radio stations around here. None that are any good anyway. All play more ads than musik.

So I have a Sonos entertainment system (on WiFi) that plays internet radio all day long in the background. I have Alexa to control the Sonos system and set timers when I'm cooking. Besides Alexa, I can also control Sonos from my computer, iPad, or Amazon Fire Tablet, I could live without Alexa I guess.

I don't have a smart phone. I don't have anything with GPS. I have a dumbed down flip phone that only comes out and gets turned on in case of emergency, when I travel ... which is very seldom. No one even knows my cell number ... including me LOL. I'd have to look it up in the phone settings.

If Alexa wants to record dog barks, farts and insane mumblings of an old man ... whatever ... go ahead. I have a computer ... enough said. Google, Amazon, FaceBook, Microsoft and who knows who else ... and ecig fourm(?) know as much about me as Alexa ever will.

The radio station that plays in background all day every day? ... KPUP-LP Community Radio Patagonia Arizona. But I enjoy a couple of other rock, smooth jazz and classical stations from time to time. I stream K-Pup through TuneIn but can also listen through the KPUP site ... KPUP 100.5 - Whats Playing
