Happy to be... Not Smoking!!!
While out with the miscreants this evening, found this thing in the sanctuary and wondered ...
Do toads ever feel froggy?

Dude should have been a politician eh
Well, covering his .... maybe just a tad. If the stuff was properly mixed to begin with ( flavorless only) , then for your piece of mind give it a good shake till you see bubbles evenly dispersed throughout the liquid. What's in them bubbles...about 21% oxygen :)
Once my stuff is blended and shook, I don't bother with any further shaking anymore. Been doin it that way for well over three years now. These days I'm only mixing up 100mls at a time though, settled into that because the math is so easy that way. When I do flavor stuff, that gets done from my pre mix, in 15 or 30 ml bottles, except for two flavors, which I shoot a 100 ml batch when they run low. Once you get a routine down pat, it's not much different than making a pot of coffee, or mixing a cocktail.

How much shaking you think the liquid takes on its trip to your doorstep?

I just wondered if the ingredients separated and settled when in storage. I would have surely thought they might ... maybe different viscosity, chemical composition and all, whatever the science is ... just couldn't see it because all the ingredients are "clear".

I've been doing like Bea mentioned. Shake everything every time before I open something regardless of size ... shake shake shake. Think I'll try not doing that for a while and see how it goes.

When it looks clear, everything is in solution. When you add pg to VG or vice versa, you can see swirls in there where they are not blended, it reminds me seeing a thermocline while diving

Oxygen can't be good either maybe, but I thought the biggest enemy of nic was heat and ultraviolet light.
O2 is the enemy, heat causes a faster reaction. UV light acts to cause heat. When nic oxidizes, it will darken, and take on a peppery taste.

Best recomendations for long term storage, keep as little headspace as possible, protect from light, and store at -20F or colder. Higher concentrations will oxidize more rapidly than lower concentrations, because there are more nicotine molecules in the solution, offering a greater chance of encountering an oxygen molecule. Freezing does not stop degradation, it merely slows it...greatly. Some folks also go the extra step to purge the oxygen in the bottles with Argon, an inert gas, although there will still be a few molecules of oxygen in the solution from handling, bottling etc. The pg and vg also thicken a bit when cold, further slowing down the movement of the molecules in the solution, slowing down any interaction with them, along with the slowing of the chemical reactivity between them.

I'm not a cow worshiper but holy cow. I'm killing it and can't go that cold with home appliances I have. Don't have a dedicated deep freezer or extra-duper gas. Think I better hold off ordering for a while. Gonna take a.long. time to use what I have. Looks like scientifically I'll be lowering my nic over time whether I like it or not. The peppery taste, when it happens, will be the tattletale I guess.

I break down a gallon at a time, down to two(2) 1/2 gallon growler jugs as needed. Then I work my way through a 1/2 gallon jug at a time, to fill a 250ml (I think 250) as needed and from that, fill one of those 30ml Gorilla bottle thingys as needed. If nothing else, maybe I can just keep the nic confused as heck or something.

At your nic levels you have less to worry about, a household freezer or even a fridge would be better than room temp though.

100 mg/ml takes up so much less space though, and so easy to blend down to whatever nic level and pg/vg ratio you want...pg and vg will probably keep for a decade at room temp, way past the recomended use by dates. I bought a deep freezer from the Sears catalog store back aways ago, before they suddenly went kaput in my old town. got that thing cranked up to the max

I do have a quart of just PG and a quart of just VG. I SHOULD blend my own down from 100mg when I get to that point. I could go ahead and get 100mg and just stash as deep as I can. I have the quarts of PG/VG because I was going to try just PG/VG to see what it was like and to find what percentages I liked best ... just never got "a round tuit" ;)
