Another example of Doug's work at Molehill Mountain Art. Love the wood but have come to prefer a shorter tip and wider bore ... for now. Redwood Burl

Also in the mail Friday was this pair of Town View leather moccasins. I haven't had a real pair of moccasins since I was a kid. Man these are comfortable. No break-in required. They're handmade in Maine by a husband and wife team, Galen and Gayanne Wintle. They've been making them since the 80s and before that, Galen worked for Dexter Shoe for 22 years. Yeah, these 'Ole Maine Comfort Classic Double Sole - Deerskin Lined mocs are that good !!! ... i am waiting for a sturdier handmade canoe moc from Robin @ Carl Dyer's in Friendship Indiana but it will be a few weeks yet before I move to the top of the build list. They are ALWAYS that far behind, demand is so good. I bought a pair of Carl Dyer 3-eye boots 30 years ago and can't wait to see these canoe mocs. The double soles on the Dyer mocs and boots are made from 18 year old Swiss cows. At about 1/4" thick, it's the thickest leather I've ever seen, wears like iron and lasts a very very long time. Double sole is about 1/2" leather in total between foot and ground and it still feels like walking barefooted ... very quietly. They will be Elk lined and Buffalo top w/the Swiss double-soles. Much more suitable for outdoor wear than these Town View mocs IMO ... although some wear their Town View mocs everywhere I guess.

Anyway, GREAT vape and HAPPY feet. Life sure is just swell :)

This is the pic from the Town View site. They also make them in a Honey color. They had these in stock (I wear a common men's size and these fit true to size) so while handmade, they got here in like 3 days after I ordered them. If you're looking for a good leather house slipper moc (i wear without socks) for yourself or a gift ... recommended. They are warmer than the flip flops I wear in summer, but these will be just splendid as temperatures cool. I like 'em ... a lot

@RadiusNick I have a few ideas for you. First thing that causes inconsistent hits is dirty connection of the 510 adapter. Most people clean the pin and 510 threads but forget about the P3 thread side of the adapter. This causes resistance fluctuations.

Second is the battery contacts inside the radius. The negative plate does need cleaning often, especially if you change batts often. The oils from your skin foul the contact even if you don't touch the contact on the mating surface, just on the side.

Third is a bad batt when your using boost. The board limits power to 15w or less so if you vape at 12w with boost on your hitting 17-18w at the start. On a rested batt you may get that boost for a hit or two but if the board detects a bad batt then subsequent hits will be limited and you won't get full boost power.
Thanks.

Saturday night around midnight ...

I calmed down by taking a few deep breaths, clearing my head of all thoughts. I needed a clear mind. Stepping back, I relaxed and enjoyed a vape. What had I been doing? Where was I going? I bolstered my confidence as I knew I'd need energy.

I checked near and around the front door. I cleared clutter from each room ... a newspaper here, pair of socks there ... and stuff. I systematically divided each room into sections and went through each section one by one, lifting and replacing furniture as I methodically went.

I searched odd places like the frig, the freezer, the mailbox and old mail order magazines. From time to time, I'd stop and gaze around as I took a vape break.

I checked my trouser pockets, checked coat pockets of jackets I hadn't worn in a year or more and searched a briefcase I'd used at schools, long ago when I was in the Navy. I checked in and around the Jeep too ... before retracing ALL my steps and looked in some of the same places again.

I called a grocery store and gas station I frequent ... they're closed right now.

I even tried a different perspective. I stood on a step stool and scanned each room from high above, near the ceiling. Then I lay on my stomach on the floor and looked wall to wall throughout the whole house ... except where I couldn't see through accumulated dog hair under and around stuff.

I hadn't actually lost anything but figured since it's quiet around here, it'd be a good time to practice in case I ever did lose anything. I think I'm ready

Oh and yeah, just remembered. I looked up at the moon, maybe it was a streetlight, while out checking around the Jeep. You know, In case I ever misplace a cow. And NOW, the moon just seems it isn't as mysterious OR romantic as it once was ... shoot ... I think I lost my innocence. I'll look for it in the morning. Thinking maybe I left it at the baptist meeting house. May need a warrant to search the place though.

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to post the pics of my mixing desk and shelves, these basically show some of the fabrication to finished pics. I did not realize that I had never taken pics of the drawers that I added later. I actually have not finished them, still working on the drawer faces, still trying to get the finish right. I know I posted a few of these in the past, but not all of them. Sorry if the area is kind of dusty, I have a limited work area.

The base part of the desk

The shelves

The shelf ends being glued.

The shelf ends after gluing

This is the top shelf after staining and getting poly.

The shelf after staining

Putting it together.

Loaded up

Few months later

The unfinished drawers

The unfinished drawer faces

I will post the pics of my flavor racks when this one is done, I put the last coat of poly on it today. :)

Nice! Great job.

Thanks, if I ever finish those drawer faces, I would like to expand the thing around the corner of the room, and add more shelving. I don't know if I will make the expansion as fancy though, that took a long time and a lot of work.

I think I figured out why I was struggling with the finish on the faces though, the poly that I was using needs to be thrown away. I discovered this with the stand I just finished, it was good enough for this, just barely. :|
