Bordertown of ProVariland and REOville
That brings back fond memories. I once had a job to do in Kinston, NC and it was a remarkable trip due to the things I learned. It struck me that the name of the town was somehow a bit off - until I read that that the very old town had originally been named Kingston but due to the unpleasantries surrounding the Revolutionary War the townsfolk decided they didn't want no "King" in their town name. So they simply dropped a letter.

Then I kept seeing ads for the Ram Neuse museum. That could have been Swahili for all I knew since I was clueless about either word. I learned that there once were naval vessels whose only function was to ram enemy ships and do enough damage to sink them. And my geography was weak in that I had never heard of a major NC river named the Neuse. So that unintelligible phrase was Ram (type of ship) Neuse (named after the river it was built on). There is much more to the fascinating story about the Confederate vessel which didn't get finished in time to make any difference in the Civil War.

And then throw in the unlikely feat of finding two great barbecue restaurants two nights in a row.

The Carolinas are at the very top of my lists of places I wouldn't mind living in.
Back in the 80's I used to drive down here to visit two of my uncles who had moved from NH to this state. One lived in Elizabeth City, ( my godfather) and the other in Aidelette. I always loved the state, but never imagined living here. Two years ago, when selling our place in search of a smaller home, we discussed the possibility of going back up north, and both decided to stay here in NC...I like it here, it's an interesting state, and the winters are so much easier than they were back in NH.

Seems like every Three years or so, someone who works with big cats, gets dead.

I think they lose their objectivity even though they know better.

They start getting too attached.

So, they go in the enclosure, and nature takes its course.

It’s unfortunate.

That, and cats are about as loyal as a cheating spouse...

They will watch you killed by an ax wielding maniac with the same interest as they would a fluttering moth - if that much.

I have a cat, by the way, and I know him well.

Just had that happen here in NC. A lion went after one of its handlers. They moved the lion to an adjacent pen so they could clean his regular pen. Somehow the cat got loose and came back and took out the handler. Probably thought she was messing with his territory. This lion and its handler knew each other well and got along great. But there are just some instinctual urges these big cats have that they cannot tame. They simply are not wired that way. Ever see someone take raw meat away from a lion? Me neither.

If you're interesting in the hazards of instinctual behavior, see if you can scrounge up a copy of Gordon Dickson's Wolf and Iron. There is even an afterword with more detail, including the very narrow age range during which a wolf can be successfully removed from it's mother.

Cats are interesting. As a little girl we had an outdoor tom cat, lived in the barn. When we moved after 8 years, we tried to take the cat with us to the new home. We got a call from the owners of the old house that the cat was back there. He had traveled over 7miles. We tried two more times to take him to the new place but he kept returning. Finally the owners said to just leave him at his old home.

I don't really watch TV anymore, haven't done so for a few years now...maybe 4+ years. instead I look for stuff like the above posts content and watch stuff on the Youtubes. many rabbit holes to go down there, and you can mostly avoid commercials...

Is the GMZ the only Provari that was Zenkoted ?
And were all Gunmetal Provaris Zenkoted ?
They did a little experimenting with zenkote at the beginning, but ended up only selling gold and gunmetal zenkote. They had too many problems with the others.

I think @Katdarling may be in possession of one of the experimental colors, I think.

And, yes, all the gunmetal Provari are zenkote.
